I have seen it! Unions aren't interested in efficient production.

I believe the UAW raised the dues their members pay in order to set up a strike fund. The union that covers my employees would not get paid from that strike fund if they don't walk a picket line 8 hours a day, and I believe the union would only pay them $250 a week for doing it. My guys make close to $40 and hour and get tons of overtime.

Did you know a union can fine one of their members if s/he doesn't go along with them?

Thing is, I really believe there is a place for unions. There most assuredly WAS a place for them a century ago. Problem is that what they were - and what they became - are almost two entirely different things. I think if unions ran the way Gamewell represents them, I'd be proud to be a part of one. Unfortunately - and we've discussed this before - my teachers union is so corrupt it would make Chicago blush. I'd like to say that my union is the only one but my feeling is I'm not the only one who feels that way if you have a lot of people out there with such a low opinion of them.

The biggest problem with the unions seems to be somewhere between that they're taking their own membership for granted and that upper management doesn't care about the proles at all.

Your hasty generalization fallacy is noted and dismissed. The reason that you get to make the money you get is that you are protected by are mixed market economy.

That's most likely true, but it's likely voluntary and some no doubt have some sort of insurance however either way I'm sure it doesn't replace their checks fully and their pensions are probably going to take a hit since they won't be contributing to them for however long they are on strike.

I don’t belong to a union we have a doctors office, gym, salon, pool, early child care center, 401k and pensions. So you get all that at the expense of I guess losing it all of you **** up. No union around to protect your dumb ass from being incompetent:) But I’ll take those odds and live confidently every day that I provide enough value that there is no reason to replace me. 20+ yrs and counting.

As a non-Union member I have a very simple plan for a strike of my union counterparts.

I offer to break the strike and cross the picket line while telling the strikers to get ****ed, flipping them off, etc - for triple overtime pay.

    It's called individual bargaining.

If assaulted by the union I will fight back with all legal force available to me to end the theat.

The last strike lasted two days and the company lost more than a half a billion.

It will be settled by the middle of the week.

Really? Lost $500 million in 2 days? Not saying you pulled that # number out of your :censored: ...
GM's offer is generous, and GM has a surplus of new vehicles. GM had 835,000 overstocked in April.

Rush is right. GM's offer was generous. Unions are obsolete.

The Union cooperated when GM was in financial trouble so now the unions want a share of the good times.

When GM is doing good we as a country are doing good.

GM is closing plants while the Chevy Blazer is being built by Mexicans.
Remember the Mexican? They were to pay for the wall.

Trump promised that Mexico would pay for the wall but Mexico is Building Chevy Blazers!

The Union is exactly why GM can no longer compete on the world stage. They have expensive, plastic POS's and we should have let them fail so they could restructure and go back to building a quality product.

They have massive overstock because the quality has gone to hell. They are merely a polished turd now. Aesthetically appealing, but absolutely crap thanks to the Union!

PI, you can always trust my figures. Heard it on anchor news quoting GM, last night. Your censure is laughable.

GM will do just fine, and so will the workers.

If they are not building a quality product, it is the fault of the non-union design engineers and not the unionized workers. They are just assembling the crap GM has designed. It's always easier to blame the union for all of managements screw ups while the executives collect their huge year end bonuses, who btw have individual PSA's (yes people that's a labor contract); if the executives need a labor contract, then why don't the rank and file need a labor contract? Oh, I forgot, the company will take good care of you if you are non-union.

The union was huge reason GM was in fin trouble and got a massive bailout from Obama...which is part of the reason GM still went bankrupt after the tax payer bailout.

Great news for our auto production in the Southeast!! Slow production, make your product more expensive so you can enrich the corrupt union officials. What a plan.

It's a combination of design and labor cost. GM has to absorb a large % of OH in the cost of their automobiles. Revenues are dropping and in order for them to compete, they have to try and lower the cost of their automobiles. Either chop labor (which the Union won't allow) or buy sub-quality material to subsidize the reduction of cost. GM has chosen the sub-quality material as the Union is to powerful. Eventually, the Union will strike themselves out of jobs.

As an example of the cost of Unions

Twinkies Maker Will Close After Strike
