I don't know why you're so obsessed with lice, but if you care to get to know the topic you might wanna do research on biology rather than the bible.

Pigs weren't liked by the early Israelites because they were hard to raise on that type of land. That always seemed like a logical reason to forbid them.
Now they jail people in Iran for bringing pork into the country. Or is that just a rumor...

That's a load of ...... People were taxed on property. Josephs was in Nazareth. Roman law declared he should remain there for the taxing. David was 1000 years in the past. Bethlehem had gone through 1000 years of trouble and strife. After Babylonian exile it's certain that few ever returned to Bethlehem. A great many Jews never returned to Palestine but opted to remain in Babylon. Others had already fled Assyrian and Babylonian invasion and moved to Egypt, North Africa and other places.
Joseph never belonged in Bethlehem. He was from Nazareth. The Gospels tell us so.

Use your own initiative. If Joseph had had property in Bethlehem he would not, as Luke puts it - 'found no room in the Inn'-which didn't exist anyway. If the census was worldwide then every family from every nation would have had to return to their 'ancestral home'. The world would have been in Chaos. If it had applied to the Jews only then 10s' of thousands of Davids descendants from 1000 years past would have returned to this small village to be taxed. They could not all have had property, as I said before. That would have made Bethlehem far greater than Jerusalem. Neither would they have travelled there to declare businesses in far away towns like Nazareth. This was 2000 years ago. No modern records or devices. Censuses had to take place at the property. Josephs was in Nazareth.
This has nothng to do with different timings. Jesus was in Nazareth 40 days after his birth - and remained there for 12 years. Matthews whole story is made up of verses taken out of context which had nothing to do with Jesus.. And Luke got his story wrong.

    • It's about 150 years before someone found a cave near Bethlehem and declared it the place where Jesus was born. And another 150 when a Roman - mother of Constantine - built a church.
LOLOL.. Matthew was fiddling with scripture and taking Hosea out of context.

Hosea is nothing to do with Jesus. For goodness sake, all Matthew did was to take a verse from the context of a whole chapter and apply it to Jesus. Once you do that the credibility of the Bible is lost for Christianity.. The whole chapter applies to Israel - not Jesus. Did Jesus sacrifice to idols, or offers incense? Matthew does this several times. For those who've studied that's what makes this Nativity story nonsense.

Matthew was gilding the lily by stealing from Hosea 3.. Luke never met Jesus and knows NOTHING about the geography of Palestine. Education helps.

Of course you will. But then you've never really studied.

Hosea refers to Israel - no mention of Jesus, To say it refers to Jesus as well makes the Bible lie.

Taking scripture out of context like with Hosea and Isaiah and making it about Jesus really muddies the water.. and it certainly doesn't make the case for Jesus. I often wonder if we would be so much better off if they didn't fiddle with scripture. .. and sadly, it makes scripture a political manipulation.

No, sexism, like it's counterpart racism, was a creation of humans....ignorant humans.

If it's a CHOICE fine, if it's "women must obey different rules because they are female" it is wrong, backwards, and ignorant..

As I posted : ""If it's a CHOICE fine, if it's "women must obey different rules because they are female" it is wrong, backwards, and ignorant.

It isn't an issue with me since the women I know all do as they damn please :)...and they KNOW they don't need to fulfill anyone's "expectations" of how females should dress..

I didn't expect this from you.....do you really think there is only two choices, naked or wrapped up head to toe in obedience to MAN made "rules" ?????

But we're talking about religion in the religion forum...and the stupid sexist roles (and rules) religion has dumped on women...

And I'm just sayin' that women don't have to follow "cultural expectations" ….at one time cultural expectation was that a woman did NOTHING but pump out kids and babysit them and her husband and keep the house clean and meals on the table and if she did anything else she was vilified and called names.......so screw " cultural expectations""...!!! :)

Sorry, but your Italian grandma was a nut and child abuser for hitting you with an umbrella especially for such a stupid reason..

She wasn't a child abuser. I was 16 and she didn't speak English. Lighten up. The history of women is too long to get pissed off about it now.

A couple of years later my younger brother was in Rome to go to school at Notre Dame for boys on Via Aurelia. He was in front of the Vatican eating an apple and some grandmother whacked him. We had a good laugh wondering if it was the same little old lady.

Bible schools are notoriously poor in the US.. Anyone with a GED can get in... and its all about the money. They would NEVER examine Hosea or Isaiah for accuracy .

Being a Christian doesn't require that a person be ignorant.
