    California is burning again. I wonder if it was an intentional set fire.

    https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-10-10/saddleridge-fire-sylmar

    The Saddleridge fire made a destructive march Friday into the northern foothills of the San Fernando Valley, burning numerous homes, closing two freeways and forcing thousands to flee.

    The fire, which started late Thursday in Sylmar, is moving rapidly to the west toward Porter Ranch and other communities. By 4 a.m., the fire had chewed through more than 4,000 acres, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

    Mandatory evacuations were issued to roughly 12,700 homes making up a huge swath of neighborhoods north of the 118 Freeway from Tampa Avenue all the way to the Ventura County line — an area covering 100,000 residents. No injuries have been reported.

    Every time we have fire conditions the media screams it from the rooftop for days beforehand.

    Its like a heads up to idiots.

    Well they can't blame SCE this time around.

    But will they blame the Mexican who was driving the garbage truck who dumped the burning trash in his garbage truck along the highway when the wind was blowing 40 MPH.

    How stupid is stupid ?

    Homes destroyed and one death so far just to save a Mexican's garbage truck.

    Well if the garbage truck driver is an illegal alien, under California's PC laws, he's one of the protected class.

    I live 1 block from the evacuation zone. Our bags are packed and we are ready to go if necessary.

    Thats not the issue. The fire is where I go hiking. There is dry brush an lots of live trees. Eucalyptus and oak don't need to be dead to burn.

    Oak trees fair pretty well in a wild fire.

    Eucalyptus trees go up like a roman candle.

    Trees that have pine cones require fire for the pine cone seeds to grow into new trees.

    Where California got it wrong, they allowed environmental wackos to dictate how the wildlands should be managed.
    No prescribed burns, controlled fires to thin out the brush.

    Not allowing the state and USFS to maintain firebreaks and fire truck roads and trails so the firefighters can quickly get to where the fires are. This what the Car Fire in Northern California last year was blamed on by CalFire.

    Also California outlawed lead bullets when hunting. Steel bullets spark when the hit the ground and cause wildfires.
    CalFire whistleblowers have already said there's a coverup by the Democrats in Sacramento when steel bullets caused wildfires.

    If they clear all the trees and burnable vegetation then they wind up with landslides.

    Prescribed fire is a planned fire used to meet management objectives.
    Did you know fire can be good for people and the land? After many years of fire exclusion, an ecosystem that needs periodic fire becomes unhealthy. Trees are stressed by overcrowding; fire-dependent species disappear; and flammable fuels build up and become hazardous. The right fire at the right place at the right time:

    • Reduces hazardous fuels, protecting human communities from extreme fires;

    • Minimizes the spread of pest insects and disease;

    • Removes unwanted species that threaten species native to an ecosystem;

    • Provides forage for game;

    • Improves habitat for threatened and endangered species;

    • Recycles nutrients back to the soil; and

    • Promotes the growth of trees, wildflowers, and other plants;
    The Forest Service manages prescribed fires and even some wildfires to benefit natural resources and reduce the risk of unwanted wildfires in the future. The agency also uses hand tools and machines to thin

    overgrown sites in preparation for the eventual return of fire.

    More prescribed fires mean fewer extreme wildfires.
    Specialists write burn plans for prescribed fires. Burn plans identify – or prescribe – the best conditions under which trees and other plants will burn to get the best results safely. Burn plans consider temperature, humidity, wind, moisture of the vegetation, and conditions for the dispersal of smoke. Prescribed fire specialists compare conditions on the ground to those outlined in burn plans before deciding whether to burn on a given day.

    California / Democrats are 100% to blame for it. It's not even a question.

    With the heavily regulated utilities and insane push to "renewables", before their time, along with the shut down of our Nuclear Plants (zero carbon emissions), Democrats have forced our utilities to spend $ on "renewables" and not on other strategies to mitigate any runaway fires while providing clean energy. We could have:
    • Cleared the underbrush. We didn't learn after the Lake Arrowhead Fire (Democrats fault too.)
    • Clear cut on a rotating basis to create fire breaks.
    • Used the helicopter saw method to clear all around power lines.
    • Invest in modular nuclear power instead of the "Bullet Train". (No meltdown potential, 100% safe, localized with no power lines through forests, and uses all the spent nuclear waste from old nuclear plants - hundreds of years of fuel sitting there. Bill Gates Foundation is 100% in on this solution.)
    The Leftists stopped all of these solutions from happening in California. Didn't allow the power companies to spend on them, and want to blame the power companies? What a joke.

    Now Californians are the Beta Testers for the Green New Deal. No power... that's how it will be you idiots. I live near the beach with no issues. But, I have also set up my house to run off a generator that I can turn on at anytime running on natural gas. Enjoy your ideology Lefties. This is the result.

    Democrats cause fires? Vote Republican and fires will cease to exist......lol.....You guys are a riot. There have been brushfires in California since before I got here in ‘64. Blaming them on Democrats exposes you as a ridiculously partisan hack using natural disasters to try to gain some cheap political points. The area where this fire erupted is right where I grew up. The surrounding hills are and always have been covered with dry brush at this time of year which are prone to fires. Thank god our local and state governments have well trained and well funded fire and police departments made up of great and courageous people several of whom are friends of mine out there right now risking their lives to save people’s lives and property.
