Comey is a very evil dude.

    Ace of Spades reported,

"New York Times Reporter Reveals That James Comey Had a Spy In Loretta Lynch's Office, and Knew That She Had Declared She Would Not Permit the Clinton Email Scandal to Go Very Far."

    J. Edgar Comey.

So only criminal cases get due process?

I think he understands the process. Do you? Perhaps you can tell me what you understand it (the process) to be.

Even though he said that there is "no process?"

There is a broad frame work, but procedural fairness will be ensured in the Senate where the Trial is held, presided over by a Member of SCOTUS. I note you did not tell me what you understand 'the process' to be.

So if Biden wasn't running for 2020, there would still be accusations that Trump was trying to dig up dirt on his political opponent? Surely you can't be serious!

They will if Trump doesn't cooperate with Congressional oversight.
I think they're trying to avoid having happen to them what happened to the Republicans for going after Clinton. A cowardly approach to a serious matter, IMO.

Should Trump be removed because he colluded with Russia? No, but he should be impeached for obstructing the Mueller probe, and especially for blocking Congressional oversight of the Executive.

No idea, I was just talking about the issues that the Trump administration has complained about in it's letter to Democrats. For example, they haven't even opened up an official impeachment inquiry. If Democrats truly want these subpoenas to be granted, then they will follow a process that the administration is happier with - after that if they are still being blocked, then the administration is clearly stonewalling.

They have begun an investigation. The subpoenas are vaildly issued and are enforceable in the furtherance of that investigation.

Here this should help you understand this discussion. https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-...lawyer-claims-lack-due-process-house-impeach/

    I will summarize.

    1. The House impeachment process is separate from the Senate trial.
"It is only after charges have been filed and the case has reached the trial stage that criminal defendants have the right to cross-examine witnesses, call witnesses, have access to evidence, and have counsel present," Sklansky said. "The role of the House of Representatives in an impeachment proceeding is to investigate and charge, not to try. The trial comes later, in the Senate. So the suggestion that the president is being denied ‘basic rights guaranteed to all Americans’ at this point makes no sense."
    2. The Constitution requires due process when govt takes life liberty or property not the loss of a job or title.
"The constitutional requirement of ‘due process’ cited by Cipollone applies to situations where an individual stands to lose her ‘life, liberty, or property,’ none of which is at risk here," Ilya Somin, a law professor at George Mason University and an adjunct scholar at the libertarian Cato Institute,
"Thousands of people are indicted every day, and they have no right to call or confront witnesses.

"To suggest that due process requires that a president facing only loss of office get more rights at the accusatory stage than a criminal defendant facing loss of liberty or even life is not only constitutionally unsupportable, but ludicrous," said University of Missouri law professor Frank Bowman."

    3. The constitution provides sole power to impeach to the House.
""It grants the House ‘sole power to impeach’ and vests it with authority to ‘determine’ their own internal procedures for governance," said Michael Gerhardt, law professor at the University of North Carolina. "All that matters for legitimacy for the House proceedings is to follow the rules of the House as they currently stand and the Constitution."

Then why haven't they voted to launch an investigation? What's stopping them? And why has the House not provided the Minority Members with the authority to issue subpoenas?

Pelosi and Schiff aren't running for president. Are you claiming that they aren't Cantaloupe Caligula's political opponents?

Because there is absolutely no requirement to do so and it makes Benedict Donald and his supporters weep, wail and foam at the mouth...

    They don't need to.

It does not need to. The House merely investigates, and if it votes so, actually impeaches. Then it is over to the Senate for the Trial where procedural fairness will come into play. There Trump call can as many witness as he wants in his Defence.

Then why did Pelosi announce an impeachment inquiry?
