Cons make me ill. 50 years on and still fighting Vietnam I see, where 50,000 of my friends and classmates went to nameless graves in some godforsaken jungle to save a country from being turned from a Naziesquue (the guy who was running it said he admired Hitler greatly) satrapy into roughly Sweden ( which it is today, and one of the world's more popular tourist destinations)

Jane Fonda was brave enough to say what most reasonable people were thinking then and still do today. We should leave other people and their economic/religious/moral systems ALONE. I do believe firmly that we have the best way of life there is in this country, (so far). We should spread it by living it. enjoying it, and letting others copy us if they want to. Vietnam was about the worst example of our trying to unjustifiably ram it down other's throats there ever was or has been. Every single Chickenhawk Trumper who wants to send our soldiers over to Iran or down to Venezuela should be staked out all night on the Memorial, maybe the ghosts that haunt that sacred place can scare some sense into them.

I wasn’t aware she was a leader of anything.
    Shouldn’t leaders be recognized?

What I can't understand is if it was just 50 guys why was it US? Why wasn't it the UN? The Blue Helmets don't have any hotels in Istanbul that are more important than the lives of several million people.

Dear Ms Fonda. You are a nice person face to face but your politics are messed up.

Next time you go fishing parachute hoppers are just fine. Don't let people bully you into buying stimulators..
Especially idiots who own news stations.

It's not just "one moment". She planned it, she flew all the way out there, made a HORRIBLE decision to wine and dine with people we are in major battles with, and denounced the US in a sense.

It's not like she made one little tweet...

She earned her spot as an Anti-American.

She didn't help anything. She created more division with that move. You think pro-war people all of the sudden said "Oh, Jane is right! We should embrace these nice people!"?

No one buys this alt left radical nonsense. She's anti-American and will forever be known as the woman who wined and dined with the people slaughtering Americans and proudly showed it.

I don’t consider her or any other Americans who protested that war as anti American but rather anti war. Many people believed then and still believe now that Vietnam was an unjust and unnecessary war in which 58,000 of our soldiers and millions of Vietnamese people lost their lives. I lived through those times and I knew many anti war people. Most were well intentioned and Patriotic Americans and still are.

Nobody buys your ridiculous nonsense about Vietnamese people slaughtering Americans. Our brave soldiers were put into a horrible position by the misguided leaders of the day. They were definitely the aggressors there and slaughtered at least 10 times more Vietnamese civilians and soldiers who were fighting on their own soil to protect their land. Alt left, my ass. The slaughter that occurred over there was done by massive indiscriminate carpet bombing and brutal napalm attacks.

Most Americans are now aware that it was a bad war that we should never have gotten involved in dispite how scumbag chicken hawks like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and other right wing nuts have attempted to rewrite history.

In Hanoi there's a war museum where they have a wall dedicated honoring Jane Fonda and John Kerry who provided aid and comfort to North Vietnam.

In Moscow there is no war museum that honors Jane Fonda and John Kerry, the Kremlin just consider that Fonda and kerry were just useful idiots of the Kremlin.

Ah yes. It was our fault. Not the French, and not the events leading up to it. Just our fault. The classic alt left radical hippie argument.

None the less, over-seeing your alt left views on it, we were at war and US soldiers were getting slaughtered, TORTURED, and it was awful.

To have the anti-American Fonda wine and dine with the people on the other side of that, is how she'll be remembered. Why does that make you so butthurt?

That's funny, and it overlooks the fact that many protestors were communists and communist sympathizers who openly supported the communists who were fighting the U.S. in Indochina. Far from being "anti-war", they were full-on pro-war, just for the other side. This unrepentant communist terrorist who hosted Barack Obama's political coming-out party in his living room was one of them:

So were other famous and esteemed figures on the Left, most notably Pol Pot's fanboy Noam Chomsky, who famously denied the Khmer Rouge were committing genocide in Cambodia and went out of his way to attempt to discredit the people who escaped the Killing Fields to inform the world of the horrors occurring there.

I grew up in an area where many of the people who fled the Indochinese communists settled in the United States and they have quite a different story to tell than you do.

I'm not saying she is. I'm saying those who volunteer for public exposure .. and then COMPLAIN about negative attention (which was always going to happen .. always does happen) are stupid.

Who is this guy? He sure doesn't look like any kind of communist I've ever met. Is he one of these fake commies? Who think someone else should do all the sharing.

I don’t care if you or anyone else still hates Jane Fonda. You guys have been trained to hate her and you have every right to hate as you choose. That’s what America is all about. I have always liked her even before the war and I still do. She’ll be remembered for her body of work in the entertainment field and as being one who stood up and spoke out for what she believed in. You and the rest of the haters are the butthurt ones. Hate away, and sit up on your high horses and look down on her and all the rest of those terrible leftists. Makes no difference to me.

Very dramatic champ. However my experience has been that most of the war protesters were just ordinary Americans who believed that our kids were being sacrificed in an unjust war so that a bunch of chicken hawk war profiteering scumbags could make billions selling battlefield expendables. The ones that made me sick were scum like Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney who cheered the war but weaseled out of serving any way they could.

You can bet they are building a whole new wing in the Moscow Museum for Trump. I’ve never seen an American politician with his tongue so far up a Commie’s ass than old Donny.

It's not that she's hated, it's more disappointed how much she hates America. That's how she'll always be remembered.

In your opinion, obviously. I know my family wasn't happy that she wined and dined with people killing our family. That may excite you, but it wasn't something we were proud of in terms of her actions.

    To each their own.

I was not thrilled with her actions either, but I think her intentions were noble. I have heard her explain her motives and apologize for her actions years ago. HBO just did a documentary on her life and once again 45 years later she addressed those questions. Her motive was clearly not to help people kill and torture her countrymen but rather to attempt to stop the killing all together and send our guys home.
