Our government subsidizes many foods that make people sick. Much of what we consume is a corn product. We have an FDA that should be looking after our health, but it is run by former executives of the companies they are supposed to be regulating.

Companies contaminating our water/soil and polluting our air do so with the support of our government. In many cases, our gov places regulations then send manufacturing to countries that don't care mow much poison the dump into the ocean, causing more pollution than if we just left it alone.

Pharm products do not cure illness; they just mask symptoms so that the patient can continue consuming unhealthy products. While cigarettes kill about 480k per year, prescription drugs kill even more.

A powerful government with good intentions has proven to be hazardous to our health.

Personally, I choose to buy locally grown, organic produce. I do not allow pesticides/herbicides on my land.

No, not really.
I think the well to do get up in the morning and go to work making a good wage. They feel productive (which is satisfying) because their work has meaning. They think all is well.
The disadvantaged get up in the morning and go to work at a meaningless job paying low wages. This is no fun. They look around for someone to blame their problems on and some politician gives them illegals and China.
Why they fall for this I don't know, because both those groups make less than they do.
