The waivers allow work by these countries to reconfigure Iran's Arak facility to a facility that cannot produce the kind of plutonium that can be used in a nuclear weapons program. That is why these "waivers" are issued, since without them any cooperation with Iran -- even by IAEA and these countries to accomplish US objectives to basically mouthball Iran's Arak nuclear facility and covert it to something else could't happen without anyone involved falling with the ambit of US sanctions.

Incidentally, the "opposition" to Trump issuing the waivers should make it crystal clear that those who are agitating against Iran in the US and Israel aren't all worried about nuclear proliferation. The work being done on these plants is to make them useless for any nuclear weapons program, but the so-called 'hawks' prefer these waivers not be issued because they want the US to bomb them instead (something the US won't be doing if there are Russian, Chinese and IAEA inspectors working to make them useless for any nuclear weapons program).

Trump is renewing these waivers despite the loud howling of the neo-cons and the warmongers. So many in The Deep State seem to have a hidden agenda other than to put The American People's interests first.

    Yes and no.
Yes, Trump is resisting the warmongers. No, because he has taken steps (including by withdrawing from the JCPOA) that will plays into their hands at the end of the day.

The chances that Iran and the US can reach a deal substantially different than the one embodied in the JCPOA is almost nil. And unless Trump is going to be satisfied with a deal that doesn't give him any of the things those who criticized the JCPOA said they wanted (their real agenda was always different anyway), then at some point, the situation will come to a head.

It's up to Iran - Trump's requirements to lift sanctions are perfectly clear.

In the meantime, a low flying foreign drone was detected and shot down over Iranian air space in the Persian Gulf near the port city of Mahshahr. The US denies it was an American drone. Iran has recovered its debris and will examine it to determine its origin.

The issue with the current nuclear treaty is that Iran will soon be able to create
a nuclear weapon legally. If you support this then you must also support Saudi
Arabia, Turkey and Egypt (for starters) going nuclear overnight.

So when Iran says Israel is a "one bomb country" and Iran could wipe
Israel off the map - DOES IRAN MEAN IT?

    This is called "moral equivalence."
If Iran was a responsible, peace loving and honest member of the International Community
(think, say, France) then there would be far less push against that country's nuclear program.
But of course, Iran is not a responsible, peace loving and honest nation.

To the hard left in America it's a case of "my enemy's enemy is my friend."
This is why they chanted "Ho ho Ho Chi Minh" in the streets, and supported
    Pol Pot.

Iran signed and ratified the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Any attempt by Iran to make or otherwise acquire nuclear weapons is a violation of the international law.

The US, on the other hand, even though it signed and ratified the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, is one of the five nuclear-weapon States recognized as such and allowed to have nuclear weapons.

Iran with nuclear weapons violates international law.

US with nuclear weapons abide by the international law.

There's no legal ground for Iran to tell US to stop producing nuclear weapons. There's a solid legal ground for US to tell Iran to stop producing nuclear weapons.

Certainly, Iranian imperialism is a Thing. From the gulf to Afghanistan to the
Mediterranean. Not content with having an empire like say, Spain or Portugal,
it has had four of five empires. In it's latest iteration it is stymied by America.
It certainly hopes that it can rule the Shia world, exterminate Israel and control
the world's oil. As well, it mistreats its own people.

This deal was never signed by the US and was never binding anyway. But the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, signed and ratified by Iran, is binding international law. Why would anyone think that cancelling Obama's deal somehow gives Iran green light to build nuclear weapons, when the original Non-Proliferation Treaty is still valid? Can someone please explain this magical shift of blame from Iran violating international law to US not respecting a treaty it never signed?

Iran created and is financially supporting and arming a terrorist organization whose declared goal is the extermination of the Jewish people.

You suggest Iran should just leave the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty like Israel did?

You don't know anything about the NPT. The NPT guarantees all its signatories the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy, including enrichment activities related to it, and obligates all nuclear states to assist non-nuclear states in this regard. It also requires all nuclear states to work towards nuclear disarmament and prohibits such nuclear states from cooperating in any nuclear related activity with any nuclear state whose nuclear status is not recognized under the NPT (e.g., India who violated the NPT to develop nukes, or Israel which never signed the NPT).

The US is in breach of all those obligations. It has not worked as required towards nuclear disarmament. It has cooperated with both India and Israel (helping Israel arm its Dolphin subs with nuclear warheads) in violation of the NPT. It also not only refused to have any cooperation with Iran in helping Iran's nuclear energy program, but worked to prevent such cooperation by any other state.

People who talk about the NPT should recall it was a treaty signed at the time of the cold war and nations who joined the NPT regime did so voluntarily, not as a means to deny themselves certain rights but because of the various promises in the NPT including the ones I alluded to (assistance from nuclear states in development of nuclear energy programs, work by nuclear states towards nuclear disarmament, etc). The NPT, moreover, explicitly provides that any signatory can withdraw from the NPT upon 3 months notice.

You can believe as you wish, but Iran has suffered more from "leftist" propaganda and actions than anything under any of the Republican administrations who have come to power in Washington.

Imperialism is when a nation forces itself on a people without their consent. Not when a nation helps allies fight Israeli aggression (e.g., Lebanon) or to put down monstrous Sunni jihadists unleashed on their nations (whether in Syria or Iraq) by foreign orchestrated agendas.

Right now we are seeing US/Israeli/Saudi/UAE orchestrated plots against the elected politicians in Lebanon and Iraq. When a people have the legal right to vote their preferences, and can easily vote parties opposed to the ones in alliance with Iran (which hold their influence in Lebanon and Iraq by virtue of their elections), attempts to force on them politicians that sing a different tune through "demonstrations" and "protests" (exploiting in many cases economic grievances contributed by US policies) is itself imperialism. Similarly, in the occupied Palestinian territories, when Hamas won the elections in Gaza, Iran recognized the results and worked with them, while the US and Western powers tried from the get go to unseat Hamas. In the West Bank, despite widespread fraud and other practices, a group that isn't friendly to Iran represents the Palestinians. Iran has no problem working with that group and has tried to unseat them, even though they have even worked with foreign powers to unseat Hamas through non-electoral means in the past.

Read the post I replied to. Nothing to do with Taliban and al-Nusra, or the US.

When did the US support and armed the Taliban?

I suggest you use google before you post.

Israel never signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

During the Afghan-USSr war. The Taliban were created and propped up by the USA. Their radical writings were even printed in Kansas.

According to the nuclear non proliferation treaty Iran can leave it with a 3 month notice. You think they should do that and just do as Israel does?
