Byrd was not a "grand wizard boohbah" and he left the KKK, publicly expressed regret, changed his ways, and died a recognized supporter of civil rights for minorities. Trump has not changed his ways or expressed any remorse whatsoever. And it isn't just his past that is the problem.
It's not what I think he's done. It's what I know he's done and he has done more for America and the American people sense Roosevelt. Obama was very Presidential, good looking and said all the right things. He was very statesman like, but made a mess of America, the Middle East and Europe. That's the reason we don't really listen to what Trump says. We look at what he does.
oh he was an "exalted cyclops" top officer, yeah who cares if he regretted his was, he was a klansman, was Trump? Civil rights huh? is that why he didn't vote for Clarence Thomas for the supreme court in 1991? I get that he didn't vote for Thurgood Marshall in 1967, funny the only two African Americans to be nominated for SCOTUS and Byrd voted against them What about when he joined the senators who filibuster the civil rights act
If what Trump did in the past, even if he hasn't changed, doesn't matter, then what someone did in the past if they did change certainly doesn't matter. This ain't rocket surgery. Where am I losing you? Yes. Civil rights. If you think you found someone dumb enough to believe that voting for Thomas is a prerequisite for supporting civil rights, you are wrong. Make up your mind, either you get that not voting for a black guy doesn't mean you oppose civil rights or you don't. You pretend you don't understand that in the one case, then suddenly you do understand it in the next one you mention. You think that isn't transparent? To recap, you are making the transparently garbage argument that voting against a nominee that you didn't like was understandable but voting for one you did like is racist . . . let that sink in before repeating that nonsense. A move supported on a "State's Rights" basis but that he later recanted. He went on to vote for the Civil Rights Act in 1968. The NAACP praised him for his civil rights efforts when he died. Just because Trump can't stop being a liar, thief, and con man doesn't mean that no one ever changes. PS, that's a good thing.
Btw concerning the clam that a felonious crime is necessary for impeachment The following from the federalist papers #65 A well-constituted court for the trial of impeachments is an object not more to be desired than difficult to be obtained in a government wholly elective. The subjects of its jurisdiction are those offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust. They are of a nature which may with peculiar propriety be denominated POLITICAL, as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself. The prosecution of them, for this reason, will seldom fail to agitate the passions of the whole community, and to divide it into parties more or less friendly or inimical to the accused. In many cases it will connect itself with the pre-existing factions, and will enlist all their animosities, partialities, influence, and interest on one side or on the other; and in such cases there will always be the greatest danger that the decision will be regulated more by the comparative strength of parties, than by the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt
Most people who seriously studied Florida in 2000 that the Dems attempt to recount only three heavily democratic districts in southern Florida was a partisan hit piece which ended the moment Scotus told them they had to recount all districts or none.
What policy against immigrants and Hispanics? Against his supporters wishes he wants more legal immigration. As usual you leave out the little word "illegal". Against health care? Give me a break. He has removed the Obama mandates but has done little else to change ObamaCare since the GOP wouldn't act. The rest is just you making crap up to hold against him.
I just said it's our responsibility to fact check the lies they publish. But as the world's #1 social media platform, one that something around 25% of users say is their primary source of news, they have an obligation to do one of two things. Refuse to publish political ads that are demonstrably false, or refuse to publish any political ads at all.
No they don't nor do they really care about Trumps behavior. What they do care about is that Trump isn't part of their clique and doesn't play by their goofy rules. And the fact that a significant Part of the American Public sees that and cheers him on really torques their jaws and that's what the op was whining about.
His infidelities aren't the only things making him morally bankrupt. There is the serial sexual abuse. The cheating of contractors. The swindling of investors. The stealing from a charity. The bigotry. The defrauding of Trump U. students. I know of no other person in politics with his laundry list of moral violations who remained popular with his supporters even after they learned about them.
He has himself said he wants judges who even have Hispanic NAMES to recuse themselves from cases involving Hispanics. He has tolerated persons who have said anti-Hispanic things. as personnel. His policies involving illegal immigration are draconinan and based on slanderous rhetoric which is without basis He has instructed his Justice Dept not to further dispute lower courts ruling against Obamacare which effectively overturns it.
Trumpette's use a variety of means to justify their support for him. But in the end you are left either admitting to or denying the reality that you knowingly support someone you wouldn't have anything to do with in your life given a choice. If a serial sexual abuser of women who cheated on his wife with a porn star, engaged in dishonest business practices, and stole from a charity lived next door would you have him over for dinner?
You may or may not find this illuminating. https://www.justsecurity.org/63838/guide-to-the-mueller-reports-findings-on-collusion/
I have not heard that. I've only heard him say something about a Hispanic judge assigned to a lawsuit against him. I also have not heard of him being tolerant toward people saying anti-Hispanic things unless your definition of anti-Hispanic is subject to opinion. His policies towards illegals is about following the law as best possible under the circumstances of Lefty groups trying to overload the border system. If lower courts rule against parts of Obamacare than let the supporters of it appeal to higher courts, no need for the DOJ to get involved. That's taking a hands off approach, not an against health care policy.
There has never been a US president who is more divisive, more dishonest, more ignorant, who is an international pariah, set us in the wrong direction with respect to the national debt, chemical pollution, climate change, the treatment of immigrants. Never been a prez so lacking in civility, basic decency, a willingness to compromise, who has devoted more time to tearing down our vital institutions, made more ridiculous claims of power, made more false accusations, shattered accepted norms, eschewed the Constitution, or used the office for personal gain.
Don't be hard on Lee. Hourly venting is good for the soul but I am beginning to think he is not the once great Trump supporter that I first thought he/she/alphabet was.
We, as in the Democrat party who have not legislated anything since becoming the let's get Trump party 24/7 beginning before the 2016 election. That is the only truth in this matter and there is no other reality except inside Democrats heads. We didn't like Obama and said so but then we moved on and came up with a plan not a seditious scheme and got the president we needed. Conversely the Dems stopped doing their job to engage in endless juvenile games and drama. They have destroyed their credibility on all levels, and to add insult to injury they have appointed the crazoid Adam Schiff to be their champion. Donald Trump is not just the president and will remain so until 2024, he has paved the way to a permanent conservative majority and the restoration of sanity in America.
The problem with your "opinion" is that is built on a demonstrable falsehood. I assume you are unaware of the fact it is false so I will inform you. Currently there are over 100 bills crafted and passed by a Democratic House of Representatives since Trump's election. The bills are dealing with matters that involve health care affordability, gun registration, immigration and much more. What happened to all the legislation? Easy answer, they are all sitting on Mitch McConnell's desk waiting to be brought to a floor vote in the Senate. They never will be. Democracy at work doing the people's business.
You seem to have trouble separating fact from opinion. What I posted was verifiable fact. Your response is???
Called for? Really? Exactly who did he 'call' to be tortured? Mass murder? I'm sure you can specify which mass murder that was, also. You apparently like drama, that's fine. But your reality is a wee bit off kilter.
Serial sex abuse? Saying some one can do X, is different than actually doing, eh? Stealing, swindling, bigotry... if these 'crimes' actually were crimes, don't you think there would be a little more than just some people claiming it?
I want to say we are going to fact check the fact checkers, but we probably won't do that. My take on things is that we too drawn to bias-bating (not misspelled), and not very willing to prove ourselves wrong.
