LOL, no it doesn't. It only targets law abiding citizens. Criminals get their guns from theft, off the street, or a family member. Registration would not stop that.

At one time the constitution also protected a slave owner's right to recover his "property." That ended with a civil war. The right to own guns will probably end the same way.

 

When somebody kills or maims another person while driving drunk or distracted their privilege and their license to operate a motor vehicle will be taken (illegal aliens are the only exception, they are turned loose). Somebody like my S.O. deputy buddy and his buddies will keep eyes on them and be ready to pounce if they drive without a license after they get out. They are there to make things right.

We've had that in my state for 5 years. It costs $10M/year to keep up to date, and has netted one total conviction in that time with no demonstrable correlation to a change in gun violence.

If you are articulating the liberal position, you should state something about the Constitution being written by old white men.

The Constitution of the US is a lot more than "some words." It is the framework that created a great country that most of us here are happy to live in. It can evolve via being amended, but in a controlled manner that reflects the wisdom of the people who wrote the Constitution.
