Conspiracies are rather common. Any review of human history will confirm it.

 

The Left historically has always managed to commit suicide.
Ending freedom of speech and imposing speech codes is usually an early step in that direction.

 

You may have missed the memo because you aren't in the loop. I don't remember when exactly but I'm sure it was in 2017, there was a confrence of sorts, attended by the movers and shakers in the tech world. The women had their marches, and the scientists had theirs. But the people of high tech had a different approach. Since about 1990 or so, the tech world has been a major funder and brain trust for the Democratic Party. Republicans have big oil and the Democratics have big data.

Early on it had become apparent that Trump and his crowd were not about to be honest. After all, fake news, was one of the first lines to come out if his mouth. And he was backed by Sean Hannity and the folks over at the Heritage Foundation, perhaps the greatest propagators of alternate "facts". Not to mention that he had the Russians helping him hack into computers, and to spread false and misleading information.

There were discussions about how the Democratic Party wasn't always gutsy enough to fight back enough, as dirty politics don't seem to be their forte. Maybe back in they days when they had mob connections, but those days have long past.

But since the Republicans and Russians were using the creation of liberals, the intellectual liberals that is, not the homeless bums conservatives pretend they are. Mostly the idea had been to keep things honest. To promote fact checking.

But it is quite obvious that a lie can't be counteracted with a fact check that few will ever bother to look. Perhaps the better path is to block false and misleading information. It isn't just Republican, Russian, and consevative postings that are blocked, as many far left YouTubers are making the same complaints. However, that is how dictatorial governments like Russia operate. They flood society with so much false information that most people don't trust any information, allowing the leaders to say whatever nonsense they what the people to hear, regardless of the truthfulness of it.

Cutting out the garbage, makes it easier to see the truth.

So here I am, sounding a bit like a Soviet dissident complaining about Soviet propaganda techniques. But it is the red Party in America that I am complaining about. Could it be, the Russians gave Trump campaign advice. Start out slamming the press, and the true believers will never accept any negative press. I wonder which Russian fed him the line about shooting someone on fifth avenue.

Well I not sure that the term deep state goes that far back, but conspiracies certainly do. That said, it doesn't make them valid.
