Why did this 14-yr old die?
    The painfully obvious answer:
He was not properly trained in how to safely handle a firearm.

    Whose fault is that?

There's a good possibility that someone attempted to train him and he decided he was smarter than his trainer. And it's also possible it wasn't an accident.

Let me know when you can provide some actual support for your assertion.

Support is not a requirement for having an opinion.

And an unsupportable opinion - such as yours, here - equates to meaningless speculation.

Abstinance as an educational platform makes about as much sense for firearms as it did for sex and drugs.

Its hard to make an informed decision when not accurately informed.

His post was meaningless speculation, supported by not one fact in evidence.

    Exactly.
The anti-gun left whines and cries about kids accidentally killing themselves and others with firearms, and opposes teaching them the skills needed to avoid such a thing.

The story leads the reader to believe it was an accident, but as it reads like it was written by a 2nd-year journalism student, I guess its hard to say.

Did the coroner say cause of death was accidental?

It is certainly a fact that liberals that refuse to teach their kids how to handle a firearm appropriately are putting their kids in danger.

How would the coroner establish that?

Abstinence (in societies where it's the norm prior to marriage) is not an 'educational platform', it's an unspoken cultural artifact that is not in contention. It's also highly successful.

That some poorly regulated and badly parented Western teenagers are so impulsively juvenile that they can't keep their pants on til adulthood, doesn't mean a thing.

If there hadn't been a gun there, the poor kid couldn't have shot himself.
But that would never have occurred to the OP.

There may or may not have been a witness.. What did the coroner's report say?

My husband and sons hunted deer and birds years ago .. and I inherited a 45 from WW2 and a 38 from my mother. I have shot skeet which is a lot of fun. All my brothers have guns and they have some skill and experience with them.. but guns really don't fit in my lifestyle.

Possibilities are part of logical analysis.
The existence of a possibility, even if not specifically supported, sometimes can and should change our opinion on the overall issue.
