In the U.S. between 2000 and 2018, there were 277 active shooter incidents -- "an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area" -- identified by the FBI. In total, 2,430 people were either killed or injured.

Seven of those active shooter incidents were on military property.

The Friday shooting marked the fourth shooting incident to occur on a military base in the U.S. in 2019, according to news reports.

    https://abcnews.go.com/US/shooting-incidents-occurred-military-bases-us-2019/story?id=67543975

    What a sobering statistic.

Between 2000-2018, there were ONLY 7 Active Shooter Incidents on Military Property.

That amounts to roughly 1 every 32 Months.

Or about 3 Every 8 years.

In 2019, alone, there have been 4 of these incidents.

Outside of Trump's Vitriolic Hateful Rhetoric (that is passed onto the mentality of the Military, because of his role as Commander in Chief), as well as Trump being in the pocket of the NRA, do you see any other explanation for this Stratospheric Rise in these sort of incidents?

    Thoughts?

These are 'sobering' statistics? What about the thousands of dead in liberal controlled cities, EVERY SINGLE YEAR? Why do you folks ignore that and concentrate on these excessively rare instances? You folks come off as hypocrites to make a big deal of this and ignore THOUSANDS of deaths every single year...

Honey you post on PF, we all know this is an issue talked about here on PF. Can't speak for the OP, but to say these issues are ignored is just not true.

In a nation of 320+ million people, a handful are crazy enough to shoot up a military base.

Its completely true, or you'd easily be able to point to liberals discussing it. I'll wait...

So did you finally finish school and visit the real world? I don't recall seeing you here for a while, like Obama's first term or something...

According to the Obama administration all such events were just workplace violence and therefore nothing to worry about. Sort of like living in the south side of Chicago where the Dem Party leadership is concerned. In other words . . . non events.

Ugh make me spend my time proving my claim. Alright, any specific rules or things you want me to look for?

And hi yes I did graduate from college, and now I'm back in college again. This time for a PhD in politics. I am now spending time studying the real world and how I can't ever truly interact with it, unless I risk being unscientific. So yeah, I guess your claim still stands. How are you? I missed talking to you.

You don't have to look up anything. The simple fact is the only gun violence that gets mention is if its a military member or a 'mass shooter' preferably white. Otherwise all urban gun crime is ignored. If people were serious about gun violence they would focus on where that happens all the time, not just isolated instances that get a lot of press.

Things are good. Glad you are doing well. This place has gotten even more hyper-partisan than it ever was. Its fun if you don't take it too seriously. There is no compromise anymore, its almost all straight down party lines. Good to have you back!

There are really no ways to compare these. The Pensacola shooting was done by a Saudi national flight student. The Pearl Harbor shooting was done by an American Sailor. Another was a domestic incident involving a heterosexual couple that had been in a relationship, and the other was stupidity. Other than occuring on military bases, there is no common theme. You should read what you linked past the headline.

50% of your 4 examples were not "active shooter" incidents.

One was a "russian roulette" incident, and one was a domestic violence incident.

The fourth one was an Islamic terrorist.

I mean I actually hate to say this but I was actually going to post a thread about this very topic earlier today. The only reason I didn't is because I'm too lazy to try to find an open source version of the article I wanted to cite. Basically I was going to talk about how gun control advocates (if we go by party affiliation) tend to be found in areas where there's high levels of gun crime, while vice versa is true. This would suggest if we add in another argument that basically says support for terrorism occurs in areas where there isn't terrorism, then this would explain the divide. I know you're rolling your eyes because I'm saying terrorism is like gang violence. I know it's not, but it's a good starting point for a discussion. Anyways:

Would you take Natty Bumpo here as a liberal, idk what he is otherwise.

I'm glad to hear that, I missed you guys too. This place really has gotten worse hasn't it ?I don't remember it being this bad, but then again that might be nostalgia for yeah. But I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks like this. Believe it or not I'm here because I'm worried that as I keep going along with the program, I won't know how to have fun anymore. That's why I'm here really, to see how many Russian bots I can tick off before they steal my personal information. My guess is about 10. Anyways, happy hunting!

Military facilities (under the watch of Trump as Commander in Chief in 2019) have become killing fields.

My heart goes out to the victims.:flagus:

    Regardless.

Trump is a Draft-Dodging (Fake Case of Bone Spurs Having) DISGRACE to The Presidency.

He is the WORST Person EVER to be The Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Military.

He has literally (as is evidenced in the last week) turned U.S. Military Bases into Killing Fields.

This is happening on Trump's Watch.

At least he is keeping his buddies in the NRA Happy.

    Very sad. Thoughts and Prayers:salute:

    Thanks alot, Trump! :smh:

Completely correct, no real commonality, and in fact the Saudi student REALLY throws off the attempted spin here. The above is a reasonable reply to the OP -

^^ - and that post makes it clear the OP was started merely as another "Orange Man Bad" (known as "Post Two) thread.

How about we quote this post as a response:

    It's just too easy, sometimes.

    It’s all Trump's fault.

    WW I was Trump’s fault.

    WW II was Trump’s fault.

    Korea Was Trump’s fault.

    Vietnam was Trump’s fault.

My dog died, and you guessed it - Trump’s fault.

Proving that no location anywhere within the USA is safe from the scourge of the unlimited supply of guns and those more than willing to use them to kill innocent citizens.

Gun-free zones are the least safe place in the country.
