Hi Everyone, I love to keep up with news and current events, particularly politics. Some days I'm amused and some days horrified by the current divisions in America and the world. Mostly amused, as I tend not to stress over things I have no control over. Politically, I lean Conservative-Independent-Libertarian-ish, and favor smaller federal government. The Democrat and Republican Parties are pretty much the same in my view. Washington DC leaders just look like they entertain themselves all day with finger-pointing games to distract us from the real division, which is between the political elite class and the rest of us. They don't seem to actually accomplish much, except running up the deficit on our dime. I'm happy to be on a political forum. For a few years, I've been a member of a cat forum. I ran out of creative ways to say, “Feed your cat, give your cat water, clean the litter every day, play with your cat, and take your cat to the vet if it's sick”. Cats aren't that hard. I ended up posting mostly on the tiny political thread area, where any political opinion to the right of liberal opinion is barely tolerated. It's a good community for cat talk, but not for political discussion. Looks like I'll be happier here after lurking for a couple of weeks. It seems most opinions are accepted and debate is encouraged. I'm opinionated, but pretty laid back and respect everyone's opinion. We can talk and debate all we want, but at the end of the day, our choice in the voting booth is the great equalizer. Happy to be here!
so you've no clue what breed cats you care for, yet know which breed doggie you care for... shameful...
I'm not sure I'm following what you mean, but thank you for being the first to offer me a warm welcome. In case you are sincerely interested, I do have one geriatric domestic tabby cat, and two young socialized feral rescue cats, none of which are pure bred. The dog is a pedigreed Corgi, so that was a very good guess!
Welcome! I have a part siamese rescue. The ex tried to take him, but he kept coming back. He doesn't play, but follows me around the neighborhood like a dog. ...just in case you thought you had left the cat forum ;P
I used to have a cat that pawed on me when I slept, I watched her play with deers. a stupid owl took her away and ate her. Anyways welcome
Thanks, modernpaladin, for the welcome. I have noticed a lot of cat avatars here...so it sort of "feels like home".
One of my ferals "punches" me in the nose. I have a perpetual small scratch. She can't figure out what that roundish thing sticking out of the middle of my face is....but she's pretty sure it doesn't belong there. Thank you for the welcome. Sorry about the owl making dinner out of your cat.
He does look very sweet and is about the same size as my orange tabby. Every male tabby I've ever had was on the large side.
Welcome, Gal. Them thar are our three. The two on the right we picked as rescues. The black and white on the left is a feral that picked us...and has now moved in completely. Have fun here.
Welcome, It looks like your "lurking" paid off because I think that you'll be pleased with this forum and find no end to political & non political topics that people are willing to discuss. There are also plenty of possibilities to discuss your pets, pet care and wildlife in general. All 5 of my pets are rescued animals (3 cats & 2 dogs) with the Siamese cat being the most vocal of the 5. If you've ever tried to write or do anything with a Siamese yowling at you, you'd understand what I mean. It the yowling doesn't get my attention quickly enough, he gets on a table and deliberately starts knocking things onto the floor. At any rate, I'm well aware of the time and attention that animal companions require and deserve. Fortunately, my cats don't bother the wild birds that I feed but prefer to simply sit with me & my 2 dogs on the back porch for bird watching. I look forward to reading your Posts and fully believe that people can differ in their opinions and do so with civility and respect. Enjoy yourself & write away,
Thank you for the welcome, Grau. I believe I will be happy contributing to the wonderful diversity of political thoughts here. The cat forum I'm a member of is a great community of cat lovers run and moderated by leftists. Writing anything to the right-of-the-left on the political echo chamber thread there is a good way to get posting privileges spayed/neutered. It is a cat site though and I respect the owner's editorial rights to decide on content. I shall speak more politics here and more cats there...and try to avoid membership euthanization on both sites. I should have signed up here sooner. Enjoy that talkative Siamese and your other pets!
Welcome! And doesn't surprise me at all that the Cat People would be intolerants. Makes perfect sense. Except for Moishe, obviously
My cats think I'm the government and they expect me to provide free housing and food. I suspect them of not sharing my political leanings. The dog, on the other hand, doesn't mind a little work. Thanks for the welcome!
