    The video isn't as "bad" as it is being made out to be by the RW.

    If they want to ban the perp from the campus and bring charges, then get to it.

    It looks to me like a little spat that isn't really even a "National Story", but once these things go "viral" in the ether of the Reddit/Twitter RW Noise Machine they always become an (undeserved) cause celebre.

    Definitely warrants an investigation, he should at minimum be kicked out of school.
    If his claims of harassment are true — so should the other students involved.

    But people calling this a “violent attack”? Lol
    Guess my 6 year old cousin violently attacked me over thanksgiving

    Depends on the area of the country, some places define battery as “contact” others define it as “injury”.
    I doubt he was injured by this “violent attack”.

    This meets all the qualifications of simple battery and none of them for assault as per CA code.
    If you teach (some) California law then you should be aware of California Penal Code 242 PC which states that simple battery is a misdemeanor.

    So no, you have never heard of California Penal Code 242 PC and instead think that assault and battery is a charge allowable under CA law?

    These laws are very selectively enforced. They're only there so they can go after those they don't like.
    Laws don't enforce themselves, there's a lot of interpretation to these laws, and it's people who apply them.

    Probably more like "You're Black, you're not supposed to be a Republican. You are not reinforcing the narrative. You betrayed us!"

    I've noticed that many of them loose their minds when they see a Black Trump supporter. It's like their minds can't take it. Reality starts breaking down for them.

    There's an inherent drive to destroy anything that clashes with the narrative.​

    Simple battery yes. Battery on a public school campus no.

    Simple assault yes. Assault on a public school campus no.

    (Cal. Penal Code § 243).

    The enhanced penalty for other battery offenses (such as battery against a healthcare provider or public worker, domestic violence battery, and battery on school property) includes:

    • up to one year in county jail
    • fine up to $2000, and
    • probation up to one year.

    It is like that across the country.
    Some people that kill numerous people are let off with counseling at world class rehab resorts followed by a brief home arrest while others are executed on the street by police for petty theft.
