Now, as to whether it is illegal, the answer is Yes, it is illegal to request campaign assistance from a foreign government.

As to whether he was requesting a personal favor, the answer is Yes, it was a personal favor. He did not want an investigation - he wanted an announcement of an investigation. And the target of that investigation - the Bidens and Crowdstrike - are his personal political opponents and there is, and was, zero national security benefit from the announcement of those investigations.

 

Except, he did not request campaign assistance. Like it was pointed out earlier, you are trying to spin nothing into something and then claim it is illegal.

Trump did nothing illegal. Period. Trump has every right to exercise his rights to look into corruption for the benefit of the American citizens. He is the CiC, after all.

You are exposing how little you understand the American Justice System, the FBI is part of the DOJ and neither have the authority to involve themselves in a investigation by a foreign country, unless they are formally asked for that assistance by that government.

The only people who can ask for assistance from a foreign country is the POTUS or the State Department.

Trump is absolutely guilty of attempting to coerce personal US elections help from Ukraine's leader over a conspiracy theory that is WELL KNOW to be not only false, but as having been created by RUSSIA to deflect their own guilt. And, he used taxpayer dollars Ukraine desperately needed and had been allocated by Congress in order to coerce that help.

Biden has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with this.

And, the conspiracy theory involving Biden have been clearly proven to have come from Russia to shift blame from their own assault on the USA - an assault that Trump has ALLOWED and has taken advantage from as part of his own 2016 election.

And, Trump has obstructed justice , which is in itself a well deserved basis for impeachment itself.

He has NEVER shown interest in crime in Ukraine, And, his coercion was not about crime in Ukraine - all he wanted was a statement from Ukraine to use against Biden. He had NO justification for that, and he showed NO interest in following up anything related to crime in Ukraine.

 

He threatened a foreign government with delaying unless they stopped an investigation into his son's company.
