If the government thinks people are too stupid to act responsibly until they hit 21 years of age then why the hell does the government think they’re smart enough to vote?

If we can draft an 18 year old to go fight and die for this country then they should be able to smoke and drink. Otherwise, raise the draft age to 21.

Smoking is a social activity voting is private. The age to vote was lowered due to the age to join the military.

this might help a little, but also might mean more kids buying from illegitimate sources.

The kids that want to do this anyway they will find a way same with alcohol.

BTW, which of congress's enumerated powers allows it to enact a law banning vaping?

Once again the government encourages people to live longer, but has no plans in place to keep them financially stable when they can no longer work..

    Its hilarious..

Raise majority back to 21, voting contracts etc. Lowering it to 18 was a mindless political expedient divorced from physical reality.

As to banning smoking for those below the age of 21 will require laws that criminalize the act and contributing to it. I'm opposed.

I'm opposed because it doesn't rise to a level of severity that warrants intrusive governmental enforcement. We're licensing an armed government agent to detain search and arrest an individual for burning a leaf or boiling a milligram of glycerin and nicotine.

Do we really want more armed interactions with our younger citizens concerning laws about personal behavior that harms no other?

    Jail, fines and criminal records?

    Stupid

Selective service and voting both need to be raised to 21. Only a tiny fraction of 18 year olds of any political bent are competent to vote. I sure as F wasn't nor was anyone that age I knew at the time.

Every thing you make taboo kids will find away and over do it.

When I was in Japan in the 1980s they had vending machines on the corner that gave you a beer can. No big deal

And the left wants to lower it to SIXTEEN and allow inmates IN PRISON to vote. Inmates would likely vote 85% D and the kids would vote for "free stuff".

Right, education on the subject works, not criminalizing the behavior.

Or anything for that matter? I remember the feds withholding gas tax funds to states that didn't pass DUI laws. This is abuse of power. The states should sue.

When I was in Germany in the 80's there were small wall hung cigarette vending machines mounted on the outside of village shops. There were maybe 10 or so different brands at most. One was always Marlboro. What I found odd was that some had 20 cigs per pack, others 21 or even 19. It was regulated depending on the German State and/or local taxes.

Hell no! The govt that refuses to represent the majority of us has no business dictating anything on this issue. Our constitution is supposed to protect us from a govt that over steps
and wants to be a king.

I want to be protected from criminals who want to harm us , protected from being invaded and protected from a govt that takes away god given rights.

So no thanks for I dont need govt to protect me from myself. And both parties are guilty of protecting me from myself. Disrespecting citizens and personal sovereignty Who the hell do they think they are ? My parents or slave owners since they already passed laws that shows in effect they claim ownership over my mind and body.
