https://kalikey.com/product/ar15-kali-key/

This product converts any AR into a bolt action rifle, which is then 100% legal in every state.
Further, the semi-auto BCG is also 100% legal in every state, and can be shipped, unregulated, from anywhere to anywhere in the US.

Thus, anyone who wants an 'assault weapon' can get one, with no more than $79 and the 10 seconds it takes to buy and swap in a perfectly legal BCG, and then head off to the nearest gun-free zone to kill dozens of innocent people.

Further proof that gun control has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with restricting the rights of the law abiding.

Gun control is about power. In CA, all you have to do is put a fin on the grip so that the webbing between your thumb and forefinger is not below the top of the trigger. Makes sense, right?

Not long ago I challenged GCA’s on their criteria for determining why assault rifles are any more of a threat than other types of rifles. As part of that discussion I shared a number actions types other than selective fire and semi auto including a Lantec upper.
upload_2019-12-17_20-42-15.gif
It is based on an action of the Swiss K31 rifle that was based on predecessor variants thar were faster to cycle than the Brit SMLE. This type of action has become popular among several variants in the EU, not handing a broad range of cartridges from the .22 lr up through the .338 Lapua magnum. It has been generally the preferred action for the Olympic Biathlon.
For the gun show near me, I had 3 requests for Lantac builds, all with AR lowers, with one customer requiring a non removable 10 rd mag that we provided the following tech hack,

All the laws being passed to ban certain commonly used weapons is chase ingenuity.

Btw, want a different action for an AR style variant, there has been available a pump action upper for some time now from places like Troy.

A bolt-action AR can have, legally, in every state, a pistol grip, telescoping stock, barrel shroud, flash hider, threaded muzzle and grenade launcher,
Legally, in every state.
Why do these attachments not make a bolt-action AR too dangerous for people to own?
How then do these attachments make a semi-auto AR too dangerous to own?

Of course, it's not really about the danger of any particular weapon- it's about unreasoned fear, and seeking some external relief for those fears- AKA, control over others in an attempt to resolve an internal, personal emotional issue. No rifle or handgun becomes a murder weapon until a murderer picks it up. And if the murderer didn't have a choice of guns, his motivations would still be the same and he would choose whatever was available. If a gun was not available, he would simply choose another form of weapon. No advocate of gun control wants to address that, because it clearly indicates that the gun is actually sort of an innocent bystander, turned into a murder weapon by- A person. The common denominator in all murders, regardless of weapon chosen - it the person behind it. Somehow a lot of our public thinks that they can cure social ills and character faults by passing laws. That's been going on for a very long time, and has never worked- and yet, we have never learned.

There is a trend in gun choice happening now. The popularity of the AR15 style is widespread, but the new trend is the popularity of precision rifles. These are mostly bolt action, configured for high accuracy at long ranges- and they aren't cheap. They are primarily target rifles. Thanks to the technology of today, the extensive ballistic knowledge and calculations required for long ranges is now an app on a cell phone, but it still requires a substantial amount of knowledge and skill in the marksman. It's a personal skill challenge, and a rewarding one to master.

After all, the first big mass shooting in Texas was with a bolt action rifle.

After the AR-15 ban, I can just hear them now ...

"Nobody needs to be able to shoot a bullet accurately that far!"

I've got to where I can usually hold 1 moa at 1000, if conditions are good. Planning on improving that with a new build- 6.5Cm. Printed, trued, custom barrel, Razor on top, folding aluminum chassis below.
Have a friend who can get 3 flying at once, before the first one hits- with a similar bolt action. And you are probably right, that will scare people to.

They already started, do you really think the five round magazine was arbitrary. They will ghost revolvers from the people. Those who love and appreciate our freedoms must oppose anymore infringements...

I didnt see an answer to this:

A bolt-action AR can have, legally, in every state, a pistol grip, telescoping stock, barrel shroud, flash hider, threaded muzzle and grenade launcher,
Legally, in every state.
Why do these attachments not make a bolt-action AR too dangerous for people to own?
How then do these attachments make a semi-auto AR too dangerous to own?

Anyone?

Sounds like you are making an excellent case for why there is no reason to oppose these regulations

Answer to first question: Because it's not an "automatic" firearm.
Answer to second question: Because it is an "automatic" weapon and when you attach a "shoulder thing that goes up" it makes it scary and therefore VERY dangerous.

Yes?

well, it sounds like a semi auto ar 15 and a bolt action ar15 are functionally coequivalant ... so there is no reason to prefer a semi auto over a bolt action....so there is no reason to object to regulating semi auto ar15

Yeah, but if ineffective legislation resolves a dispute and has no negative impact... why object?

Well, it would seem to me that if the two are basically the same then they should be regulated equally...

... or maybe not regulated at all

I don’t know
But since you oppose it
Someone must be in favor
So they have a dispute.l.. whatever it is
And since there is no harm...
Let’s just let them have their way

has nothing to do with this
Clearly some guns are now regulated
And as is being argued in this thread...
There can be no infringement on rights since a bolt ar would still be legal and functionally the same
