Legal requirements for presidential candidates have remained the same since the year Washington accepted the presidency.

As directed by the Constitution, a presidential candidate must be a natural-born citizen of the United States, a resident for 14 years, and 35 years of age or older.

I would add to this a mandatory college degree. A college degree shows that someone is able to handle complex issues and has a certain amount of intelligence. He / she has also proved to be able to understand problems in-depth and at the same time from a global perspective. All of this seems to me to be very important today, especially for the President of the most powerful nation in the world: the USA.

What do you think? Should the uneducated be excluded from becoming president?

No. There are plenty of very intelligent people who don't possess degrees. Aside from the constitutional requirements already in place, let the voters decide.

I know a man who grows alfalfa on a large farm. He knows the science of agriculture. He is also a successful businessman. He is also a skilled mechanic. He is also an operator of machinery and heavy trucks. He is also politically informed and aware. He doesn't possess a degree.

But man! Is this guy ever intelligent!

    That's just one example.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." TR

We can exclude the uneducated from becoming president by not voting for them. I don't see any further exclusion necessary.

But for the Donald, that obviously failed. He was elected even though he has no idea what presidency means today. Or just because of that?

So there should be an exception: people who have proven through their previous life that they are suitable for the job.
    Yes, that sounds reasonable. :)

    How did he fail?

Because he wasn't a war hawk?

Because he didnt bow down to liberal MSM and the elites?

Btw you would need an amendment to the constitution and I think what you really want to say is we need only liberal college majors to vote for president.

Indeed, compulsory voter training would have a similar effect. Trump became possible because the education system failed. :(

You mean indoctrination, the Democrats cant do it in the rural states

Btw No Trump became possible because the Democrats kept lowering the bar ..

We would of never had Trump if the Democrats removed Bill Clinton .

To work for all mankind because of being the top manager of the most powerful nation on earth. I think the Donald is too nationalistic.

Trump became possible because all of the college educated politicians failed, and people wanted a change.

Add shows no sign of dementia, has never been declared bankrupt, shows his tax statements, is capable of finding his own arse without using a map and asking directions and has never been deemed so crooked he was turned down for a casino licence in Sydney

So you think Australia set in motion capitalism?

No it was the United states the only super power left.

The world used to be full of dictatorships, kings and queens in the 1800s and we wiped most of them out, Russia , China, Vietnam runs on some sort of capitalism.

That's true, unfortunately. People changed from reason to "gut feeling" because they were unhappy with the situation so far. That seems to be a general problem. When civilization stumbles, barbarism regains the upper hand. :(
