Mnuchin seeks to delay Democratic efforts to release Trump’s secret service spending"

"The Trump administration is seeking to block Democratic efforts to release Donald Trump’s Florida-hopping Secret Service costs – until after November’s presidential election"

"Since taking office in January 2017, Trump has made more than 50 visits to his properties outside Washington, despite promising to “rarely leave the White House” and avoid the travel costs of his predecessor, which were estimated at $96m over eight years."

"In March 2017, the agency asked Congress for an extra $60m to cover the additional costs of Trump and his family over the following year, but as the family’s travel schedule has expanded, insight into costs is fragmentary at best."

"A report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), put Trump’s travel expenses at $13.6m for four trips to his Palm Beach Mar-a-Lago club through February and March 2017."

“This estimate consisted of approximately $10.6m for operating costs of government aircraft and boats and $3m for temporary duty costs of government personnel supporting the President’s travel, including transportation, lodging, and meals and incidental expenses, the report found."

"At that pace of spending, Trump’s travel costs would have exceeded Obama’s total before the end of his first year in the White House."

"But Trump has made 22 more trips to Mar-a-Lago, at an estimated cost of $28m to the Secret Service alone. The agency has said it has spent $588,000 since 2017 on golf carts to escort him during golf trips; at least $250,000 was charged to Secret Service credit cards over the first five months of his term according to the watchdog group Property of the People."

"Trump’s adult sons Eric and Don Jr have made frequent overseas trips to countries including Ireland, Scotland, Dubai and India. A visit to Uruguay by Eric Trump in 2017 cost taxpayers $97,000."

"But according to the government’s accounting office, the Secret Service has failed to provided cost reports for 2016 or 2017 and delayed submitting reports for the last two years"

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...rvice-spending

Golf carts, Trump has charged the American taxpayer over a half million dollars alone for golf carts to follow him around his golf courses

Trump is taking in millions off of visits to his resorts, not to mention family trips to include staying at Trump properties. We pay Trump to house, feed, and entertain his staff, entourage, and the Secret Service detail, is it any wonder he seldom if ever visits any other resort on his golf junkets, or when traveling overseas, and now they want to keep it all a big secret

And I'm sure it never even earns a whisper on Fox or AM radio, but but but, he donates his salary

Seems "make America great" actually means "make Trump richer," and all off of the taxpayer's dime

This is true, but in Trump's case, we, the American taxpayer, pay Trump to house, feed and entertain that detail, and we pay Trump often for it, in fact, every time he flys off to one of his resorts, which unlike prior Presidents, seems to be every weekend.

No accident he only plays golf at Trump courses and often

That would be the case no matter who the President is.

The Clintons charged the SS protecting them rent to stay at their NY estate.

No, just points out the hypocrisy on the right, they screamed the few times Obama took a vacation, big news at Fox, and here we have a GOP President seemingly flying out nearly ever weekend to one of his properties and personally profiting ever time he does

And surely not a whisper on the right, the hypocrisy

Or stay at home, perhaps try one of the military bases where prior Presidents played golf, but then, he would miss out on all the millions he could be making off of the taxpayer

So its not the costs its "hypocrisy" that is the issue? Did Obama have a security detail when he played golf? Lets see if you can be consistent...

As a trumper, in all fairness (a concept democrats don't understand), Trump shouldn't have talked so much trash about Obama golfing if he planned to do the same exact thing

Well, I'd ask for documentation, but I know that isn't coming, but did the Clintons do it over fifty times in three years, and did they profit off of it, charge half million in golf cart rental alone? And they didn't even live in New York till after he left office

Of course he did, the question is did we the taxpayer pay Obama the costs of housing, feeding, and entertaining that detail when he played golf? Did Obama charge the Gov't for golf rentals to follow him around the course? Did Obama personally make money off the Gov't playing golf? No, but we do pay Trump, a lot, and often

By the way, most of Obama's golf, was played at nearby courses they drove back me forth to or military bases, not resorts Obama owned

That is not "fair," true, but not a fair appraisal, Trump is playing the golf he said he wouldn't, and personally profiting off of it every time he plays golf. It is more than just breaking promises

Again, no, but prior Presidents didn't personally profit off of playing golf, they didn't make money for themselves playing golf, Trump does, that is the issue

I don't see the problem. Are you saying he should pay for the security himself? Or are you just upset he is golfing? Seems a silly thing to get worked up over.

Growing up near a sub base and the Coast Guard Academy i am fully aware of the lengths we go to protect a President or VP... They close a ton of streets it was a pain in the ass to get around Waterford or Groton or for that matter New London.

The problem is that Trump personally profits off of himself playing golf, he flys off to one of his resorts, no other resorts, his resorts, nearly every weekend, raking in milions off the American taxpayer

You want a solution, stay home, play golf at a nearby course or at a military base as prior Presidents did, there is no reason to fly off to Florida nearly ever weekend

Ah, the American taxpayer did not pay Obama personally for those soiree's, Obama didn't personally make money for himself with those soiree's, Trump does when he plays golf

Irrelevant, the issue is Trump personally raking in millions flying off to Trump resorts seemingly ever weekend, imagine the money he made staying at Mara logo over both holidays

Question for you.. When Trump is shooting a few holes do you think more or less people are playing golf?
