You are wrong. The Democratic party is not supportive of anti-capitalist Islamic Theocracy. It is strongly supportive of free-market capitalism and generally supportive of Christianity with a separation of church and state. It is also supportive of public support for certain services like health care, but the Democratic party is nearly as far from being "socialist" as the Republican party is.

 

I believe the idea is that they're Iranians.

...and it's effective. It's political speech and the image is 1,000 words worth. Hyperbole, perhaps, but it gets people to reason through the issue by internally articulating arguments for or against. It causes people to think and talk through the issue. Effective.
