Mitt Romney is an unofficial leader of the Mormon religion in America, and it appears his sole vote to impeach our President on the Republican side is a religious betrayal.

Most of the Republican party who are generally Evangelical Protestants remain loyal to the President.

According to biblical doctrines the Mormons may have bit the hand that fed them, because Utah was a gift to Mormons from the Republicans. On a good note this exposes who are loyal to the religious causes of Republicans.

I would bet that if Romney was up for election in November, he would not have voted to convict the President. That he still has 4+ years left in the Senate will somewhat insulate him from any repercussions. It is my wish that a conservative run against him and win in the primaries before the 2024 election. Utah needs to place a true conservative in the Senate, not democrat-light Mitt Romney.

Why blame mormons when Mitt is just one mormon who acted out on his own.

I supported Mittens when he ran against the O... i know, lesser of two evils sort of thing... but I'm thankful every day the man didn't ever get into the oval. He's a train wreck these days...

who assigned him that post? you? Cuz he's Mormon ... and a politician?
    A religious betrayal?
Say, you sure like to divide folks up and set 'em against one another, no?
which Biblical doctrines would those be?

    Are you serious?

No. He acted against his constituents wishes according to the polling I have seen.

Romney is a liberal when it suits him, and pretends to be a conservative when it suits him. Either way, he's done.

Mitt is the only republican senator with a conscience and character. He did the right thing and not the easy thing.

I'm sure his fellow Mormons are praising his refusal to sell out for the sake of politics.

I love it when formerly hated people on the other side all of a sudden become a hero. It was great seeing Democrats gush over Mueller for a short time until he came up short.

a gift is not a debt, Mitt and the Mormons do not owe Republicans anything for Utah.

however they are ungrateful, and this transgression will not be forgotten by President Trump.

Mitt Romney was a Latter Day Saints bishop, and a very good one, and that is why he was electable in Utah. They apparently were not paying attention when he was running for offices in Taxachusetts. When running against Ted Kennedy he was as pro stack on the anti-gun laws, as pro-gay marriage and as pro-death by abortion as possible. When running later for president, nope. He's a chameleon with a wet thumb to the wind in whatever land area he is running in.

But by and large the Mormons favor and like Trump, so Romney hasn't been particularly popular in Utah lately.

He does not have to answer to the voters until 2024. He is 72 so it probably doesn't matter to him.

So Trump is your God. Any “transgressions “ against him is seen as an affront to your religion.

And people try to claim that Trumpism isn’t a cult.

And vice versa. Any Republican who dares question or contradict Trump is now anathema, no matter how much of a conservative darling they used to be.

Mittens is just another RINO. Always has been. His vote was to be expected. Heres to hoping his constituents were paying attention this time and remember.

The Mormons got Utah the hard way. They were persecuted US citizens and were run off like dogs from their happy homes, headed off in wagons and on foot into the hard frontier, settled in Utah, fought for it, and held it. Nobody is gonna deport Mormon US citizens because a quickly assembled army of men in the USA would not tolerate that and head for Utah.

Trump and Romney have that in common. Rich *******s who have no real ideals. They say and do whatever they think will win the support of whoever is in the room at a given time.

Trump used to donate slot to the Clintons and was a Democrat in the early 90s because it suited his personal interests.

People change. Andrew Breitbart was pretty far left at one time, until he started to think.
