The proposed law requires men within the state of Alabama to pay for a vasectomy after their third child, or their 50th birthday whichever comes first. https://www.al.com/politics/2020/02/state-reps-bill-would-force-men-to-get-vasectomies-at-50.html When you start limiting families to the number of children that they can have, your getting into a Chinese version of population control. I know that this is nothing but a political grandstand, but I take offense to the very premises. I really do not think that men over 50 are having a huge impact on causing unwanted births. Further, I look at the fact that my father had 6 kids. All of us wanted and loved. My son has six kids, also wanted and loved. To tell them that they could not have the last three kids is completely irresponsible. When you start down this road, what is next? Having the states determine who can and can not have children based on income, or race? Anyone that would advocate a three child limit should be immediately sanctioned. Even in cases where the proposed bill is nothing but a political grandstand because she backs a minority position on abortion law.
Oh damn... I saw Alabama in the title and thought they were requiring one for Roy Moore... My bad.. This is obviously a non starter and is essentially the male equivalent of Roe V Wade (in reverse). Never gonna happen... Sounds like BOTH sides in Alabama are living in the 1900's.... I know the Republican side is after their unconstitutional abortion law...
Outlawing murder is unconstitutional? Who knew!!! I guess that is just more of that illogical liberal logic.
"A proposed Alabama law would require all men to undergo a vasectomy within one month of their 50th birthday or after the birth of their third child, whichever comes first. HB-238 was authored by Rep. Rolanda Hollis (D-Birmingham) and would not only require all men over 50 to receive a vasectomy but it would also require them pay for the procedure out of their own pockets." https://mynbc15.com/news/nation-wor...-men-undergo-vasectomy-on-their-50th-birthday Umm....what? Is this what Democrats spend their time on in Alabama? I can't imagine this bill has a chance in hell of passing, but who/why waste the time on crap like this in the first place? If you're curious about Rolanda Hollis, this is her https://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/2...tive-arrested-for-domestic-violence-in-destin
Rome only lasted as long as it did because the rate information traveled was extremely limited. Western civilization did great when you account for inflation.
Really! But controlling a woman's health care is just fine? A single-celled but controls a woman's life? Why shouldn't the law in Alabama control men's lives too? Older men have more likely to have chromosomal problems to cause death of their 1 month old fetus, it is the duty of all men to protect the life of these errors of women!
Whoever he is, he's a moron, we need as many American children being born as we can squeeze out as we have a severely declined birthrate. We have more dying than are being born.
simple work around and leftist would have to accept... furn 50 and declare yourself to actually be a woman.. catch 22 leftists..
I'm all for sterilization and forced castration for certain criminal offenses like rape, who wouldn't be? But why is this law targeting men, we don't crank out the babies. Instead of targeting men who just happen to live past a certain age, how about if we force welfare queens to get sterilized? And an argument can be made to sterilize illegals, refugees, child abusers, etc.
I agree, but in that 30 year time frame of one child one family China went from a third world country to a superpower. Now, I’m not for controlling a persons God given right to have children however I believe we do need to take a look at people on govt assistance constantly reproducing.
I agree. I'd be good with offering incentives to folks with kids on welfare to encourage them to get vasectomies, use birth control implants, etc. Anything to stop the cycle, stop the drain on our nation's finances via welfare, and save kids from growing up in poverty. It would be a lot cheaper in the long run (one free vasectomy vs 18 years of welfare for the kid and mom), and it could help break the cycle of breeding/poverty.
I thought liberals were against forced medical procedures! Thats what they are saying in the abortion threads!
Yes, they were against forced procedures. Just like when I was younger and voted Republican, the Republicans didn't want that either. Just like Republicans would fight against debt in principle and reality up to and including Obama, but now Republicans are blowing money for their billionaire buddies like tgerevis no tomorrow!
