I used YOUR own argument and you answered not a single question nor proved any point.

Failed diversion on your end, so you have a nice day..

Okay, but we aren't doing that now, and we cannot force them to.

And I don't think if fair or right that THEIR actions increase my risks.

So, just give up and take my chances?

    1) of course. we all try to stay away from unhinged and violent people.

    2) as above.

    3) nothing. because it's not coming from the external 'trigger', it's coming from their own dysfunction.

    4) I don't hate you for your opinions, or at all. I just find your opinions slightly terrifying. I'm a liberal, and a firm believer in democracy, so the overall drift of your posts (that we must all adhere to some kind of grey uniformity in the interests of rampant narcissism and dysfunction) doesn't sit well with me.

    1) Who said anything about 'forcing' others? We can only control is ourselves. WE can only choose to raise OUR kids better.

    2) Who said life is fair? Where did you get that notion from? Have at look at the animal kingdom, and tell me that's fair. And we're less civilised than some animals.

    3) No, just keep fighting your good fight yourself, and allow others the space to fight their own. Their fights are not yours, and yours are not theirs. The only thing we all agree on is DEMOCRACY, and an end to violence and sidewalk poop.

So, you didn't answer my question, so I will interpret your response the way I believe it is, based on your dodge, and assume you think there is a gray area.

National dress code, maybe one without branding. Can't see the harm. I don't have brand loyalties I care enough about to buy clothing for. And I think the benefits would be greater than the costs.

Yes, I am aware it erodes freedom a bit. But I NEVER believed freedom is absolute. Our actions and choices do have an impact on others, regardless of whether you agree with me or not. And so, I think we have a responsibility to have some care for ALL human beings, no matter what.

I wouldn't condemn and ruin someone's entire life for them punching someone in the face once. And I wouldn't put a killer through life without parole in solitary confinement in a supermax prison if I thought they could not be reformed. Execution would be much more humane and quicker.

Now, care to answer my questions?

    Fine.

No complaints when the people you consider enemies win and enact the laws you don't like, okay?

I agree with democracy and following laws. I just may not agree with all the same laws you do.

And there it is. You actually seek some kind of totalitarian state. FORCED 'kindness'.

Check how well that's worked out in other societies .. those in which the citizenry were already used to authoritarianism. Now translate that to a society which has never known conformity of that magnitude and see what happens. This is dangerously ill-considered thinking.

Not to mention - where in hell does it stop? Will you hide all fat people because SOMEONE might be offended by them? How about hiding all the autistic children? And people with body odour? And people using wheelchairs or walking frames?

    1) My political 'enemies' win elections regularly. That's what happens in a DEMOCRACY. Suck it up, or move to NK.

    2) Which laws do we differ on?

So, we can Express our views about someone or something in any way we want, without any thought or care about how that person will take it? No diplomacy?

How are you prepared to handle the people that don't handle it well, knowing they aren't going to play by your rules?

Are you willing to risk the lives of the ones you care about the most for them?

And the people who criticize political correctness are the first to veil themselves in it when offended.

No, I have actually explained my position several times over and over again which is why we're having the discussion to being with...you're the one not wanting a grey area or really any area but one given this argument:

I believe this woman should be charged and serve the punishment that goes with an assault and battery charge. Nowhere did I say what I advocated for as a penalty, so don't assume. I am for justice!

A killer, doesn't really have anything to do with what we're talking about, but I am all for the dealth penalty our tax dollars shouldn't keep in prison for as long as they are, but that's a different topic.

You do know there are consequences for a person's actions that don't involve prison. That may be arbitrary, based on the feelings and morals of the person dealing out that punishment. Are you okay with all of those decisions too?

    1. Your right in that we can only control ourselves. But that doesn't change the fact that our actions still have an effect on others. And in a country where freedom is absolute and there are no consequences for any action that is not directly illegal, things will never improve. They will only get worse until we hit that point of mass violence. And I don't want my loved ones to die because of that, so I would like to prevent that war from happening, if I can. Don't you?

    2. I already know life is not fair. Doesn't mean we just give up and accepted the inevitable slide into anarchy and mass death. You can't exercise your freedom if you are dead.

    3. I am fighting the good fight. In this case, by trying to have a meaningful discussion on an internet message board. I will be fighting again at the voting booth, by voting on the candidate that most closely matches my values.

But others will fight their fight by trying to instigate others into physical violence, so that when that person tries to take a swing, they can pull out their gun and kill them, claiming self defense.

I think that is wrong, don't you?

It's much simpler than that. The unelected bureaucrats and public sector parasites that actually govern us seek to minimize the voluntary and maximize the compulsory, in all things, for all peoples, except themselves.
Trump is increasing the voluntary and decreasing the compulsory. That's driving them crazy.

This is not trump's economy. We built this. Trump would be the last person to say, "You didn't build that." All Trump did was to take the "boot of government" off of the "neck of business". This is our economy. This is not a government run, or government bailed out, or government saved economy. This is our economy, and I think that President Trump is as proud of us as we are of him.

And in the 90's (and 80's) we weren't trying to rip open old wounds like so many self-styled and phony "social justice warriors" are doing today.

If you'll indulge me for boring you by belaboring my point, when I was a youngster growing up in Virginia during the latter end of the Civil Rights Era there was **** going on like a race riot in one of our local high schools that I never want to see again. Since then, normal ordinary Blacks and Whites who simply want to live their lives and get along with one another have made a conscious effort to put the past behind us and for the most part my generation - now middle-aged - has done an admirable job of that. But now the people who have a warped nostalgia for the 1960s - by far the worst decade I have lived in - and lovingly and ironically refer to themselves as "progressives", want to drag us all back to those days. I can't even begin to tell you how frustrating this is.

    Okay, I'm through venting.

I simply cannot relate to those who think of themselves and others, first and foremost, as members of groups rather than individuals. Their group think leads to groupthink. To you and me, immutable characteristics are incidental. To those who think of themselves and others, first and foremost as members of groups rather than individuals, immutable characteristics are definitive. They define people by their immutable characteristics. We define people by the content of the character.

    Huh? Dems "cheered"?

I sure you can produce hundreds of links to back that up?:bored:

I had never heard of such a thing.

Or like all of the Republicans who cheered when JFK was shot?

Nobody cheered when Reagan was shot.

And, what does Reagan have to do with this thread?

I thought it was about a MAGA Hat?

Anyway, the attack on the hat was uncalled for and I am sure the Perp will face legal consequences.

    Reagan?:roflol::bored:

Even IF he were wearing a MAGA hat in public, he would NOT be responsible for the attack.....that would not be an example of "bringing it on himself". If you really differ in your opinion on that, I worry....because it's the same line of thinking that blames women for inciting sexual assault by what they were wearing, or because they went to a party and got drunk....or whatever.

    1) Yes, because that's what FREE SPEECH means. People have to choose to 'take' something period, much less 'take in the wrong way'. Offence is always taken, not given. The majority of adults know when to speak and when to remain silent in the interests of diplomacy, but there will always be those who don't, and the equally dysfunctional who choose to take offence at that.

    2) I would 'handle it' by making very darned sure those people don't end up deciding the rules. They are the ones having trouble dealing with the texture of democratic society, it's on them to adjust or perish.

    3) What?

    1) No, things will get (far) worse if we start pandering to the hysterical narcissism of the poorly formed. That's how democracy is lost. The inevitable totalitarianism would be considerably worse than 'anarchy'.

    2) Yet you said that it's not fair. Clearly, you expect it to be.

    3) You're fighting YOUR good fight. It's yours and yours alone.

    4) No, they are wearing the paraphernalia of their preferred political party/candidate. Any violence in response is SELF-instigated, and completely inappropriate. When I was a young adult late last century, Skinheads had actual swastika tattoos, and strangers in the street did not punch them. We just thought 'what a tosser' and went about our business. Some wore full blown Communist insignia, and nothing happened to them. All manner of political stuff, etc etc. No one took any of it personally.

    1. Fine. Although I may risk my life, I would never risk the lives of people I really care about.

    2. Hey, me too. Which side has more support, would you say? And in which direction is it trending?

Of course, my questions are rhetorical. I already know your answers. You have absolute conviction that you are right and I am wrong.

    3. I thought I made myself clear here. I don't believe things will get better, only worse. Both sides of our political spectrum will refuse to believe they are wrong. They will refuse to compromise. They will show no mercy. And when the political attempts to force their agenda into place fail, the physical violence will become massive. I have very little faith in humanity, outside my family and co-workers.

And you don't want to do anything about it, from what I gather. Shouldn't we try to find out WHY they do what they do and try to help them fix it at the very least? It seems, at least on this board, most don't even want to try.

The way many people behave on this board, they would rather wait for that person to try something physical, and then just kill them in retaliation.

That strikes me as wierd and worrisome. And it really ticks me off. And I don't like being powerless to do anything.

Sorry if you don't agree with me.

But for those conservative posters that consider me a monster for my beliefs, even though I am a law abiding citizen, then this message is for you:

If you consider me a monster, then you had better treat me like a monster and kill me while you can. Because you tick me off, and I won't forget. And one day, the people I support will be in power. And then it will be my turn to be in your place, and you and mine.

And you had better hope we aren't the monsters you think we are.

Lol, see what happens when we allow the super weak snowflake trumpers to make decisions, they are so weak that we never even imagined how weak they could be.
