The sexual misconduct case against Harvey Weinstein was sent to the jury February 13, 2020. If found guilty on all counts he could face life in prison. Do you believe he will be found guilty? Do you think the punishment fits the crime? Or is it too excessive for an older man who is in poor health?
I say innocent, I think he obviously exploited his position to womanise but it takes 2 to fill the casting couch, these women may have exploited their looks and beauty to advance their careers and now regret it but that isn't rape. Equally genuine rape victims do not have friendly relationships and even consensual sexual affairs with their rapists afterwards and admit that they manipulated their supposed attacker.
I think there was some of what RR said going on, but theres also the accounts of forcible rape to consider. If those are proven in court, he should spend his life in prison (or worse, imo). And given the variety of sources, I think proven they will be.
Again, I find it hard to believe that outside bad historical porn any woman would have a consensual sexual relationship with her rapist?
In my own opinion, "YES", those women of fame will not just destroy their images without having a very strong cause and also when I look Harvey's face I could see his monstrous desire of women, he is a wild predator.
These are women whose careers are pretty much on the skids and now are getting fame, money and sympathy for stuff they did in the past to boost their careers and now regret. When you look in Harvey's face you see a womaniser, how is he any different to any other straight man who finds himself in a position of power with all these beautiful women currying his favour? It takes 2 to fill the casting couch.
I wish there was a I don't know because I haven't really followed it and I'm not on the jury to hear the testimony and watch the accusers. There are so many variables and who do you believe and what really happened. Yeah he's a dirt bag no matter what but this is about being a CRIMINAL dirt bag, that takes beyond a reasonable doubt. How much was voluntary on the women's part? Don't tell me it doesn't happen. So I don't know all the testimony and what corroboration there is. If it's a bad as it seems I surely hope they have enough to convince the jury.
I think they do have a very strong case for if not Weinstein will not agree for a settlement with his accusers, it's an admission of guilt and reparation as I see it. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/23/harvey-weinstein-accusers-reach-tentative-44m-deal
All these women knew exactly who he was and what they were doing !! He is guilty but he won’t go to jail what is up with Jews ? Weinstein , Epstein, Weiner etc Creepy crap
He's a womaniser who traded his power and influence for carnal delights, he no more took advantage of young women than they off him with their feminine wiles. Why not send them to gaol?
Settlements are not an admission of guilt, just that Weinstein doesn't want to spend his old age fighting hugely costly lawsuits that would cost him more than the settlements would. If anything the fact that the women are prepared to settle makes me disbelieve them, if they were actual rape victims would they be looking for money? Really I think this is shades of grey, the girls did things they really didn't want to do to further their careers and now regret it, if Weinstein is found innocent it would be a great boon to calming the #MeToo hysteria.
That might be the case with some of them but some of the really egregious cases are being brought by women who in fact left the acting profession and they are claiming they did that either because he threatened to ruin their careers or actually did so after they refused to have sex with him. It's not just a few women either. Stories of the 'casting couch' are one thing but flat out abuse of people is something else Please note that most of Hollywood's most prominent producers are not involved or being accused of anything and only one girl I know of has come forward to defend him even though he was said to be very influential in the business.
I don't care a hell of a lot one way or the other. The jury will determine guilt or innocence, and that's the way it SHOULD always be. Truthfully, most all women are smart enough to know when some guy's trying to 'get in their pants', and if they have any common sense at all, they can usually avoid it if they don't want it. But, and particularly in the case of 'starlets' who want to make it 'big' in the entertainment industry, a LOT of these women will use sexual allurement as leverage to try to vault their careers... which makes them just about as bad as those who take advantage of them.... If Weinstein had had any sense, he'd have paid these women off long before everything got to this point, but, nobody ever said that he's some kind of mental paragon, either.... But, by and large, all this 'casting-couch' drama has gone beyond boring.... We Americans have MUCH more important stuff on our 'plates' now....
He's the most extreme example but the principle holds true. He doesn't have to justify himself, genuine rape victims do not maintain friendships, working relationships and consensual sexual relationships with their attacker?
Many of his accusers maintain that they didn't, and for this Weinstein wrecked their careers, others that he used those he had mistreated this way as examples to keep dominance over them. Rape takes many forms.
No I would not, in Germany they do not give sex crime victims monetary compensation but free therapy for life and I think we should do the same everywhere and prevent civil suits, if people are genuine it shouldn't be about money.
It does but not having consensual sex with your rapist afterwards? It seems that the jury are taking their time which sounds good for him, if it was guilty they'd be back sooner.
Yes that is in Germany, but here it's quite different I guess for the sex crime victims were offended by a wealthy fellow a billionaire. Yes, I agree no monetary compensation or agreement should intervene and let the testimonies corroborated with evidences be the lead towards final verdict.
Are women who were abducted and carried off into sexual slavery not being raped? Many of Weinstein's victims may have thought, and some with very good reason, that a woman with no skills beyond a degree in performing arts might have found it rather difficult to get by on the mean streets of LA.
Yes they are but that's not what happened here. You're talking as if these girls were homeless or something, they may have been struggling actresses etc but that's why they had sex with Weinstein, to further their careers. Jury is still out, good sign for him.
