Anytime an additional law or regulation is created, that in any way restricts my right to any form of gun ownership, it is an infringement on my Constitutional rights.

Are 'they' going to buy me a bolt action kit for all my semi-auto rifles?

Why should they 'get their way' but not me? Im not preventing them from having bolt action rifles...

It has EVERYTHING to do with it, period. Full stop, right there.

And NO! It's not "functionally the same". It certainly is an infringement.

OP is a bad idea, because the left will make arguments like the one above mine. Then they will come for the bolt conversion.

Seems it's only a workaround for gun laws in Cali.

This is why they say, if you give an inch, they take a mile.

Ah. You aren't aware of the fact the 2nd protects the right to own and use -all- bearable arms.
Good news - now you are!
    Your question, answered.

Unnecessary and ineffective restrictions on the rights of the people violate the constitution.

Anyone wanting more gun regulations isca bad person who is anto science and wants to disarm the American people so that the government can have more power over the people.

Point blank end of story. That's the truth and there ain't no more to it.

No i don't care if your kids got shot up by a psycho at their school. You're still a bad person for coming after my guns...

Ok, so as a 'chick' I'm just sort of a 'fly on the wall' in the rifleman's arena (granted)... I just don't see your assertion as being the reality in my 'circles'... I am sort of involved in reloading & competing w/ my x 2 6mm Norma BR's but it's mainly to spend quality time w/ the men folk, lol... What I do see are all sorts of people bringing in their heavy barreled custom AR 10 or 15's chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, Grendel or 6.8 SPC's (mostly) to bench rest events. And as expected, they don't stack up well w/ the custom bolt action rigs... (eye roll)

I guess because it's an easy novice event, I really like the 200 yd. egg shoots. I currently use a 'lowly' Mueller 8x32 on both of my 6BR's & do ok at 200 yds. My experiences w/ Night Force & Leupold optics are much better, obviously... Honestly though, I really think that you are wrong in your assertion that 'precision rifles' are a significant trend. I mean it's such a 'niche venue' & I don't see the precision shooting events that I attend w/ a significant influx of people (could be a geographical thing). On the flip side, every time attention is brought to bear on 2A issues - all I hear about in my circles & in national news is 'get an AR before it's too late'; anecdotal accounts, I confess... :)

    Just my x $ .02

It is a significant trend, but that is a broad statement that doesn't apply at all levels of shooting. The nature of this kind of rifle and shooting will limit it, for three reasons:
One- The cost of a good PR rifle can be 10 times that or a basic AR rig, or more. A build I'm doing right now has a $1K custom stock, $3K in glass, a $300 trigger; it will be around a 6K investment.
Two- Places where you can shoot 1,000 yards are very limited. That means quite a bit of travel. 200, 500 yd locations are much more common; I'm just into the longer things.
Three- It generally requires a dedication to skill level that is quite high. The farther out you go, the more critical that gets. You can almost ignore wind at 100 yds, but at 1000 it's the filter that thins the field quickly. It's the unpredictable variable that has to be re-considered every shot. Most people aren't going to do what it takes to learn that well

I did recently build an interim level rifle, a Valkyrie, in a AR frame. Very custom, very accurate, Steiner glass (which I wasn't thrilled with and am going to replace with Vortex) - pretty good at 1K too. Not at good as a dedicated bolt gun, but much more versatile. Great choice for varmints at longer range for example.

However within the class of people who admire long-range, the precision approach is growing fast, and that was my point. I'm not a notable competitor and neither my skill nor my eyes are up there with the best, but I get a special kind of satisfaction out of being able to do better at 1000 than most do at 100. Chicks... welcome anytime. Usually faster learners than guys.

I would absolutely luv to see the rig that you are building, but only if you were so inclined to post. I might not have the depth of insight into all the nuances involved, however, I have 'accuracised', 'glass bedded', polished trigger mechanisms etc. etc. a few times (with the help of Youtube) lol...

I have some understanding of how personal a really important project like yours can become... I really hope that you are successful in your build endeavors...! S

    - McMillan stock?
    - what action did you end up selecting?
    - who made your barrel? 'no turn' reamer obviously right... can you share who did the work for you?

So then why do tactical police units like SWAT use shotguns?

Actually they are for killing animals too - also known as HUNTING. Your post is ridiculous.

If AW's were banned, do you suppose that shotguns might be a possible replacement for mass shootings?

No ..they are not effective due to having only limited shots and hard to reload

Yeah, but you're also against semi-auto handguns right? So I don't understand why you only talk about banning AW's.

Except for the ones you know nothing about. The KSG shotgun holds 41 rounds. Many standard design shotguns in competitions are loaded with a simple magazine like device called a speedloader. A competent person can reload fully in less than one second.

Knowing a little about something is worse than knowing nothing, because you make foolish assumptions.
The only limitation of a shotgun is terms of killing power would be range. In a closed area like a church or classroom, it would be more deadly than any rifle.
But- ONLY IN THE HANDS OF A MURDERER.
Intelligent people don't fear the weapon; be it a gun, a knife or a hammer- it is an inanimate object with no malice. They fear the deranged person intending to kill.

Tell that to the 10 kids who died a high school in Santa Fe TX
57 people have been in mass shootings by someone with a shotgun.
Considerably less often and with fewer fatalities, than handguns.

    Your ignorance regarding shotguns aside...
Every mass shooting in the US, save one, could have been perpetrated, with equal results, by someone with a pump-action shotgun.

Then cease being called out when posting unsupported nonsense. Semi-automatic rifles are the least utilized firearms in the commission of either mass shootings, or crimes in general. Handguns are the preferred type of firearm for all killings across all categories, simply because they are so much easier to conceal and transport than any other firearm. This has been proven as being nothing less then fact.
