A cure cures the disease. Antivirals just make it slightly less bad. Next....

Also, the cruise population skews older, and it's a small sample size to work with. Fortunately, we have other data:

In Italy, roughly 3% of the confirmed number of cases ended in death as of Monday. But the number of new cases jumped early Tuesday to 270, so that has the mortality rate now at 2.6%.

In South Korea, it’s 0.9%. In Iran, it’s a whopping 19% though information out of Iran is harder to come by than it is in China.

Who is they? Your immune system develops the antibody. Has nothing to do with the antiviral drug.

I remember my son's doctor saying the flu shot from that year was aimed at the wrong strain of flu (or something similar). My guess is that there are several different strains so it's hard to detect which one is coming next. I've personally never had a flu shot and I've been fortunate to have never gotten the flu.

    I like Beaker.

And honestly the way he spoke, that is what I imagined some of these liberal drama llamas to sound like on here......

I don't think the CDC will look bad if there is no outbreak. All anyone and everyone can do at this point is speculate and get prepared, which is what the administration and the CDC is doing.

Would it be exceedingly odd if there isn't an outbreak here? I don't think so. To my knowledge there's been only one confirmed in Latin America, which was reported today:

As for what you said about us being no different than the other countries that are facing the prospect of an outbreak, I disagree. We're a lot different in a lot of different ways.

But, hey - if you want to light your hair on fire and start prepping for the apocalypse knock yourself out...

China has been a huge contributor to the rise and fall of the stock market. It's down over 1,000 points again because investors are selling off. It'll rise back up, but the biggest factor in the rise has been lower China tariffs while the biggest factor in the fall has been China's virus.

How is it disrupting America? We still have the lowest number of people with the virus, and almost half of the cases are in SF, CA. What are we doing that other countries aren't?

I'm waiting. I don't have a single problem admitting I was wrong if it really does break out, but right now we're at 60 cases. All I'm saying is that it's not an issue in America. I'm not worried about other countries. It wouldn't be a bad idea to stop travel until a vaccine is found, that keeps it out of here.

We will have to wait and see. You either risk declaring a national emergency and being wrong, or risk overreacting. I don't think he would have your support either way. Would you say that the swine flu was a national emergency?

If any state needs to be quarantined, it's CA. While we're still just at 60 cases, 28 are in San Francisco alone. Newsome better get his problem under control.

I'm sure it's a leftist misinterpretation thing as most people with open eyes have come to expect from the leftist organization ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯

Of course, their handlers have no new bone to toss them so this is what happens to their base when left to scavenge for themselves ;)

"National Emergency" is a term so thrown about it's almost lost all meaning. There are other options besides declare national emergency OR not disagree with CDC. Trump and his administration had no business downplaying this the last couple days and certainly no business disputing their own experts.

But yeah, I would have declared Swine Flu a national emergency. Better safe than sorry.
