Yesterday Turkey bused Syrian & Afghan refugees to the EU border under the promise these people can cross into the EU, and the EU in turn instead of renewing its EU/Turkey Deal or allow the human right to cross borders for refuge, closed the border and had a crack down. https://www.euronews.com/2020/02/28...rvices-for-refugees-to-the-border-with-greece https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...y-and-russia-after-killing-of-troops-in-syria These people are doing no wrong, and countries in the EU like Germany with 2 pennies to rub together could home them.
It occurs to me, when Turkish officials bus these refugees to the Turkish border with the EU, it seems they're not prepared to host them without the EU renewing its contract; the fact that the EU hasn't renewed the EU/Turkey Deal and refused refugees entry to claim refuge should be more apparent to force either the EU to renew outsourcing its humanitarian obligations to a Bastard like Erdogan; or host these refugees instead of paying Turkey to do it.
I heard a few days ago that Turkey was threatening that if the EU did not wanted it to do -what it wants re Syria it was going to open the doors and see the EU flooded with refugees. Basically they were threatening the EU that if it did not do what Turkey wanted , which I think was something to do with going against Russia Turkey would do that as punishment - I can't remember the details of what they were demanding. On a thread in the latest news Greece, who apparently is the only country receiving them is using tear gas on them and they are throwing stones. This looks like a potential nightmare particularly as France, Germany and the UK look set to be dealing with the Coronavirus. If Turkey is forcing them to leave it looks like an even worse nightmare.
It's just racism on the part of the EU; the EU doesn't want them, never really has,in 2016 the EU paid Turkey to stop them from coming. So I have 0 sympathy for the EU; racist bastards and all; EU so white, EU should know its place in the world; many mouths to feed; without any money; no wonder and Thank God there's a recession in the Eurozone. Stupid bastards trying to force the UK to follow EU rules even though Brexit happened; I'm just waiting for the UK to walk away from these Brexit talks in June if the EU doesn't change its tune; France complain about the December 2020 deadline being artificial; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-51678900 and yet EU insist the UK must follow the EU rule book after exiting the EU, so I want the UK's answer to walk away in June since the EU are aren't showing any sign of changing their stance. https://www.politicshome.com/news/u...son/news/110169/uk-warns-eu-it-will-walk-away Seriously, the only way to keep UK from walking away is to drop this nonsense of UK following the EU's rules since Brexit; Either treat UK like Canada; or treat UK like Singapore; it's up to the EU, because if the EU doesn't grow a brain and stop saying the UK needs to follow its rules for a deal, the PM's prepared to have Britain walk away in June. I have no sympathy for EU's desire and wish to stop these refugees though; the EU is worried about all these mouths to feed (if it's not just racism); and I for one think the EU should never have done a deal with Turkey and should be more open to these migrants anyway, and if they can't afford it; then remember, they're no superpower to begin with and this should test them.
The EU has its own problems, and are going into these talks with the UK in a weaker position than the UK is; so either the EU gets real with Brexit and stops expecting UK to follow the EU or UK walks away in June. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politic...-eu-preparing-britain-walk-away-brexit-trade/
The UN have pointed out the Greece cannot hide behind the EU to deny migrants their rights. https://euobserver.com/justice/147612
How much trade with the EU do Canada and Singapore have compared with the UK? We have over 12,000 lorries a day crossing our borders coming from the EU and a similar number going the other way. Without some form of regulatory alignment all that is going to become far more complicated. Gove himself has said that up to 50,000 new customs officers may be needed, at a cost of £1.5 billion a year, to check loads in the case of no deal. Way to cut bureaucracy and red tape Brexit...
I fear you've been listening to James O'Brien. How many lorries etc... It's not about how many trucks; it's about UK diverging from the EU. UK can have a trade deal with the EU like Canada has or it can have no trade deal with the EU.
I don't see what this has to do with the ticking time bomb that was the EU / Turkey pact @Montegriffo Edit: I'm aware I sort of diverged from the topic in my post you quoted there, but this topic really is about the ticking time bomb that was the 2016 EU/Turkey pact
Perhaps you shouldn't have brought up Brexit and EU regulations then. Since we have never been a part of Schengen EU policies on refugees has not really been our problem. Non EU migrants have never had an automatic right of entry to the UK or been able to cross our borders without checks.
Are you James O' Brien? Seriously, that's guy's a ****. He doesn't understand Brexit (probably never will) and he judges people who does; then he says things like the UK can't have a Canada style deal with the EU because we have more trade with the EU (or something); meanwhile the UK has left the EU and the EU's only answer is to treat the UK like it's in the EU.
It's OK, I understand why Brexiteers hate James O'Brien. He exposes their lame talking points and makes them look stupid. No one likes to be made to look stupid.
