The issue is uneven (fake) media coverage and hypocrisy, i.e., the fact that the left calls Trump the most vile names for draft dodging yet runs candidates who are draft dodgers. The people in this forum (and you know who you are) who blasted Trump as a cowardly draft dodger are strangely silent on the draft status of Biden and Sander. Sanders of course at one time applied for conscientious objector status.

 

And those who defended his dodging are now trying to attack Biden for it. Hypocrisy cuts two ways. Trump was a rich kid, and rich kids didn’t get drafted. Biden wasn’t, the sons of used car salesmen were drafted.

 

Trying to avoid the Vietnam war is not a negative in my book. Where I disagree with you is on your idea that one had to be a rich elitist to dodge the draft. This is simply not the case. Do you think Ted Nugent dodged the draft by being an elitist? There were classes taught by the left during the war telling people how to fake a medical issues. The degree to which this could be done depended on what State you lived in. For example (if my memory is correct) 50 percent of the men called up for a pre-induction physical failed the medical screening in MD. In VA the faiure rate was 2 percent.

Anyway, I hope that Biden is able to win over the Union Workers in Michigan.

There are certainly many union workers that feel the way that the person in the OP does.

However, I feel that even though this union worker in question had misunderstood Biden's position on Gun Rights, in the long run the Michigan Union Workers will overwhelmingly vote in favor of Biden in the Fall (and help him carry the state of Michigan).

 

Union are filled with lemmings that will vote anyway they are told.

Most of the guys I grew up with in Mass are in the union trades.

Years ago one year one of my union friends asked me how I was voting on the ballot questions.

He told me he was voting
Yes on question #2
No on question #3

On a hunch I asked him why & he told me that is how the union is telling him to vote.

I then asked him another question that I already knew the answer to.

I asked him if knew what question #2 & #3 were asking.

He had no idea - he just knew how he was going to vote.

With voters like this, Biden does have a legit chance to win in November.

 

Michigan can already be considered Deep Blue for November.

And,the only reason this is even a "story" is b/c the RW is trying to make something out of nothing.

Once again, it won't change one vote and Biden will easily carry MI in the Fall.

It is my belief that all of us long-time members should set an example and start moving away from posts that appear antagonistic.
