I simply do not understand. Why the hell is there no UK travel restrictions? In the below video at 1 minute 42 seconds, a guy has just got off a plane from Milan and he was able to go straight through without any basic medical checks like a temperature test! What a JOKE! Russia, Mongolia, Singapore and Hungry have been able to control this thing by locking up their borders! Oh, but wait - globalisation is more important! :roflol:

sorry...are you asking me/us to comment on UK Government policy?

I've no idea what that means. But I guess going from A to Z in one leap of imagination is rather more convenient?

The UK is wanting maximum infection so that it can have herd immunity believing the virus will be exactly the same next year. So as not to get into trouble for killing off all the old and vulnerable it is telling them to self isolate for several months.

    It is true.

I said to Herself, "My dear, it is time to think of others. So I am going to self isolate until this terrible plague is over."

And she said, "You crafty old sod. You are to sneak off to your allotment and dodge all the hundred and one jobs I have lined up for you around the house."

She is a smasher, but she knows me a bit too well.

Uh, yeah. Are you not allowed to?

You have no idea what globalisation is?

Yes, however, not being an epidemiologist all I could do is make uninformed and facile comments like the guy in the video you posted.
A reasonable handle on it, but not in the context which you have invented for it in the current virus outbreak as you posted above...
...you seem to be making a point but what that point is escapes me.

I was going to sacrifice myself for you and everyone else who is having kittens at the thought of catching the Sino Snots, but I won't now.

So you consider all of your opinions "uninformed" and "facile" other than your opinions on the industry that you work in or the subject which you study? Surely you can't be serious!

That having open borders (part of the EU's globalisation) is more important than controlling an epidemic.

I have ordered N95 masks for all the family. My youngest grandchild cannot wait for his to arrive to wear to school. I am going to order medical ones for them to wear in my presence!! In the meantime my daughter is expecting in 2 weeks.

How do they work? Raised beds look neat but they seem to harbour a lot of slugs, although that said, everything seems to harbour slugs.

Oh these are my first. I shouldn't have put 'new'. They are going on an area of land that it is very heard to find the earth on under the pebbles, concrete and so on. Thanks for reminding me why I had decided to fill them with new stuff and keep the beasts out! Some people say they don't last long but the ones I have ordered are tanalised so should last for some time. They were a very good price but then the shipping was almost as much...but I have been meaning to do this for some time so bought anyway before they were put on lockdown!!

Yes they should be neat. I am hoping they will be easy to manage once set up. Now I need to buy the hoops and netting. i think they are probably simpler for that as well.;) My daughter has a couple. No problems so far.

well...I'm sure that being the intelligent person you seem, you can see the irony of what you're getting into here. We have un-informed people going onto social media and encouraging people to panic buy items that are not in short supply and to which perfectly good supply chains exist. Now these idiots are going out and purchasing truck loads of bog roll etc. for no other reason than they have listened to and acted upon the idiotic comments of people that have no idea about what they are talking about. So going back to your thought....
in this instance...yes. Because the ramifications are real world rather than intellectual.

I assume you were wanting some reaction along the lines of "yeah the UK is just like so dumb and stuff....coz all the other countries in the world are locked down so we should do the same and the UK government is just like so stoopid and that they like just want to make money and stuff" Well sorry to disappoint. However, I'm sure there are others that will take your bait. The ramifications of un-informed facile comment are serious and you can see that by what is happening in supermarkets and the effect that has on the old who cannot get out as much as they need and cannot get what they need - who by the way are exactly the age group that the virus is hitting the worst.

    So again...
You seem to be completely uninformed or have chosen to disregard the information about the measures that the UK Government has taken and the fact that the UK Government has warned that further actions (drastic or otherwise) will be taken as necessary. If all you want is knee-jerk reactions to this scenario then fine. But I would rather listen to people that are in control of the facts as they stand, having taken advice from people who have the facts at hand and implement cool headed strategy and decisions based upon that advice as opposed to the comments of some loud mouth prick on YouTube who probably hasn't a fukcing idea of what he's talking about.

I've enjoyed our chat have a nice evening.

You do realise that there is a connection between countries closing their borders and their success at controlling the virus, right?

You don't speak English. Not my problem it is the language which is supposed to be spoken on this forum.

No, you just haven't made it clear whether you are happy with the open border policy. Are you saying that all of your posts have been relevant to the topic?

That wasn't the post you were replying to. It is possibly better received if you respond to what people say rather than trying to psychoanalyse them. :)
