I assert that covid-19 is nothing more than a new virus for an old enemy of man -- the common cold. I further assert that the target of this new virus are the elderly with underlying sicknesses such as lung or heart disease. It is rare for people under the age of fifty to die from this virus, and 80% of those who have it do not know they have it. Many do not even have the symptoms of the common cold.

On average I watch 2 1/2 to 3 hours of news each day. An estimated 95% of the news these days concerns the ability of the government and the media to scare us citizens half to death with what they say will happen sometime in the future. The media stresses the anticipated shortage of hospital beds, ventilators, testing kits, swabs, masks, and other things. We are being told those afflicted with covid-19 will skyrocket and that the U.S. is where Italy was two weeks ago. The media says very little about about the successes in places like South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and elsewhere, successes we have a great chance of duplicating.

Note to the media: The U.S. is not a third world country and we have the best health systems in the world.

The media with all its great reporting on the coronavirus pandemic rarely mentions the death toll in the U.S., which stands at 135 after three months within a population of 327 million. Those who have died were in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The youngest were in their early or mid-50s. The victims had health problems and most were in nursing homes or other facilities. Here's what we know about the 100 coronavirus deaths in the US - CNN

Little wonder why the media in its effort to create panic rarely mentions the miniscule death toll and the condition of the victims. We expect that older people with health problems will die from the complications caused by the common cold caused by the coronavirus.

The point being, this pandemic does not affect the general population.

The government and the media won't tells us that.

Governor Cuomo of New York came on again today as he does everyday to gives us his dire report. We got the sad news of the lack of testing while the number of cases shot up because of increased testing, the future shortage of hospital beds, ventilators, etc., etc. the reader knows the drill. For the second day in a row -- I have been tracking Cuomo for two days -- Cuomo failed to mention how many had died in his state. He doesn't want us to know. That would ruin the message.

As of two days ago (the latest report on the internet) with a population of 19.54 million, seven people in the state of New York have died of the coronavirus in three months. NY state deaths from coronavirus rises to seven - New York Daily News

Yeah, Cuomo doesn't want you to know that.

"...view this the same as the flu."--Donald Trump

“...it's all under control...very small problem in this country.”--Trump

"This is just my hunch, but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this, because a lot of people will have [the coronavirus] and it’s very wild."--Trump

"...a lot of people are going to die."--Donald Trump

    Trump's hunch was wrong.

That 3% only applies if they are exposed to someone with the disease.

Limiting exposure by requiring that all immigrants have MMR vaccinations is the second level of controlling the disease.

Ultimately nothing is foolproof but preventative measures like vaccines are better than allowing millions to get sick and some will die too.

Sure, but we don't have enough tests to give to people abusing our asylum laws in order to avoid deportation after being caught crossing the border illegally. It's better to just send them back.

As of right now America has the 6th highest death toll behind China, Italy, Iran, Spain and France!

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

We have the 5th highest rate of infection and while China has their infection rate under control our infection rate is still growing EXPONENTIALLY!

What makes everything significantly worse is the complete ABSENCE of leadership in the Whitehouse. Other nations have sober and intelligent people in charge who are taking significant steps to bring their infection rates under control.

The criminal IMPOTUS has done the exact OPPOSITE and doesn't give a crap about We the People.

And you are MISSING the big picture here.

When the hospitals are jammed full of those dying from Covid-19 there is nowhere for those who need urgent care for other critical conditions. If a doctor diagnoses that a pregnant women needs a surgical delivery otherwise she will die in childbirth but there is no facility that is an additional death to add to the toll.

So it is the LOSS of healthcare facilities that would otherwise be available that is the issue that people need to be aware. The EMT's cannot rush someone having a heart attack to a hospital that has no facilities to treat them. The same applies if there a vehicle accident and someone is seriously injured and needs to be hospitalized. Are they just going to be left on the side of the road to die?

Totally agree, but the right want us to be more like North Korea and have state run TV that always praises their dear leader no mater what

we hear Trump has his people sign NDA's which means he can attack them, and he can sue them if they return the favor - just like he does with his women.. so we have heard - so they have no choice but to try to massage his ego, or it will get stormy

I, for one, don't want to go back to the division, anger, polarization, tribal behaviors & deadlock we've all experienced for far too long already. Let's learn from this Pandemic, & become one country & one people again. We will always have differences of opinion--that's normal. But we DON'T have to always fight about them. We can learn to work our way thru them together for beneficial outcomes. We MUST do that.

Globalization, like anything, has both positive & negative aspects. National sovereignty has them too. National sovereignty has given many benefits to citizens living within them--improving living standards tremendously above what existed before nation states formed. But national sovereignty also brought us the worst wars in human history--wars that killed & maimed many millions, for reasons that seem petty & senseless, looking back on them. Globalization offers the possibility of ending such wars, because it forces us everywhere to work together as a single, global community, & see each other as associates & neighbors, & like human beings, rather than potential enemies. The issues globalization deals with, like the Coronavirus Pandemic now, are issues no national sovereignty can resolve alone. Global warming is another such issue. We are living in a time when human existence & daily life has become a powerful force of nature affecting the survival of the planet & all life on it larger than bacteria. That impels us to become more global in our thinking. National sovereignty is on its way out, as a necessity. You are already a part of that process, whether you realize it or not. Even you participation in this online forum is a form of that process. Find a way to harmonize your life with it. Globalization should free you up to follow your personal dreams better than our current system does. That's good news for you & everyone else. :)

I find it interesting how slowly people including the poster I am responding to are known to be on different sides of the aisle are trying to be civil toward each (for the most part) and recognize this is not any one persons fault and the solution will require all of us to work together.
To those on the right and left that dig in their heels and continue to run on about things you or I actually know little about regarding this virus, I feel sorry for you.
There are plenty of sections in this forum where we can take off the gloves. I really believe the virus is one where we should try to pull together.

The original question contained the words, "all available". That means everything, no? Why is it then necessary to redefine this for you, and why would you be reluctant to offer an opinion? There isn't anything to be specific about.. The term all, does in fact, mean all.

Was I? You didn't question anything I said.

A contagious new virus for the common cold can be very dangerous -- for the elderly with related diseases.

I repeat, this virus does not affect the general population, and the government is doing its best to keep the age groups and the condition of the victims who died a secret.

What I am saying has no relationship to what the idiot,Trump, has said in the past. Now he is making a fool of himself in different ways. I thought Pence was in charge of the coronavirus team in the White House. Trump won't share the limelight with anyone. Pence has taken a back seat to Trump on the medical team.

We are in a transition period between being nationalists & globalists. The two will co-exist for awhile, but the trend is inexorably toward globalization. It's necessary, simply because an increasing number of issues facing us are facing all humanity rather than a single nationality. The advancement of technology forces that upon us. I'm seeing it as increasingly unavoidable. It's an exciting time to live, because globalization will bring many new, technological advances that will impact our lives in positive ways. That technology will make us increasingly aware that regardless of the place we live, we are all humans, having much more in common with each other than differences. Globalization will increasingly make our interdependence on one another crucial for any & all our survival. The transition is already advanced far beyond what most people realize. It's not reversible, but it does have many positive aspects that will impact our individual lives for the good. Go with the flow & enjoy the journey! :)

Does not affect the general population? How is the general population immune?
You mean all fifty one governments? The fifty states plus the US. Are you accusing democratic governors of withholding information?

As usual my critics do not mention the numbers. They just characterize the outbreak much like the government and the media does without going into specifics.

Well, I do. According to your source, the number of deaths in the U.S. is 171. That is 171 in three months within a population of 327 million. That is miniscule. My source reported "Those who have died were in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The youngest were in their early or mid-50s. The victims had health problems and most were in nursing homes or other facilities."

Like I said, that is about what one might expect from the common cold.

When one uses facts instead of characterizations and prophesies, what I say makes sense.

I don't remember having future premonitions like this since 911 - not using some crystal ball - but through studies cycles in history - political - economic - geopolitical .. "Blood in the Streets" is a good read and covers some of this.. but there are many. A bunch of predictions in that book were made - which came true - again not using crystal ball.

It is like a reset button was hit - it is not just the Corona - but what Corona has triggered - economically - socially and geopolitical. Something has changed. Finally we are not hearing about Trump 24/7 !! There is actual news being reported - although in a single area and on a specific issue.

Healthcare has to be something that folks will view differently - Universal Healthcare - especially the younger demographic.
Maybe it is not such a good idea to have homeless cesspools in the middle of our cities - Corona puts that question in a different light.

moving on - this economic shock is big - and could get bigger - and this happened at a time when things were already shaky. Bit of a Perfect Storm this one. Global economy was slowing - money was already so scared of "Something" that it was willing to park in Treasuries ridiculously low or negative interest rates. Obviously that something was not Corona - fear of the risk of trying to find higher yield. Inverted Yield curve ... Manufacturing index negative for 5 months ... lots of black clouds. Federal - Corporate - Consumer Debt at all time highs.... baby boomers moving into low spending and high healthcare cost years ...

and then BOOM ... When a new car hits a bump it will be ok - when one of ill repair hits a bump the wheel comes off.

The shale oil ponzi scheme is kaput ... investors had given up throwing good money after bad prior to the crisis - and had been a long time coming - then kaboom ..

When Corona passes - and things go back to normal - what happens as we try to float 2.5 Trillion in new debt + what ever comes due (2 years being up on a 2 year bill) + and the Fed is supposed to be reducing its 4 Trillion dollar balance sheet - something it did try to do for a brief time and then gave up.

Could we see a rapid interest rate hike ? - meaning interest on our debt which is different than overnight lending rate that the fed sets.
    We better hope hot.

We need to stop this nonsense.

This is a serious disease and the young are in as much danger as everyone else.

They may not actually die at the rates of other age groups but they become seriously sick and hospitalized at the same rates as other age groups

    Didn't read lame thread.

    Apply gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM decoder/lie ring to translate

"one human race" as "one special more than others, hyper privileged, less earning, less risking, less productive, more expensive, more corrupt, more dishonest government parasite class" ...and the rest of us who pay for the whole shebang as victims of it. And the cherry on top is that we are actually FORCED to advocate against our own self interests with our OWN MONEY.

And BTW, how are all the billions and TRILLIONS of Complex services stacking up when the chips are down over and over and over and over and over in terms of cost benefit? Hmm? Not too ****ing well from my perspective. Same government scam different day, we pay and pay and pay.

So tell us all about the "single human race" just as long as government and related are not much of a part of it going forward.
