The State of Ill and especially Chicago plan on demanding a bailout before they have to declare bankruptcy. Their retirement systems are billions in debt. The reason of course is the fact that democrats have been in charge for decades and have voted for huge obscene retirements for teachers and other b'crats.

There is simply no reason for the feds (taxpayers) should bail them out. Most of the rest of the country has seen to it retirement systems pay a responsible amount of money for those that retire.

The Feds should say no way. Since your voters kept voting in the foolish democrats that GAVE AWAY those kinds of retirement money, pay for it yourselves. Raise taxes on those in Chicago and Ill and let them pay for their own stupidity!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is worse is NY and Calif are not far behind. Tell their taxpayers the same thing. First of all it is not fair to the rest of the countries taxpayer that were frugal and logical, and it opens the flood gate for other states. The national debt is now probably over 25 TRILLION DOLLARS. Let all those states that wants a bailout be responsible for a change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No thanks on bailout for irresponsible states, IL in particular, I grew up there and taxes were reason #2 why we left, cold weather was #1.

Their bad spending habits are not worthy of a bailout

Everyone knew for 20+ years that there would be a day of reckoning. Yet.nobody had the balls to make the hard choices, because politically they are career killers. Nobody should be surprised that the people in power are still looking for someone to bail them out.

To the political Left, economic consequences is a non-issue because it is very nearly a religious belief of theirs that one NEVER runs out of other people's . . . money. So there will be no convincing them.

And yet again, the responsible entities will have to bail out the irresponsible entities. Happens at every level. Makes one wonder what is the point in being responsible in the first place. We should all just spend like drunken sailors and expect and demand to be bailed out by those who managed their resources wisely.

It's cute that Republicans are complaining about debt when Trump has raised it $7 trillion in less than four years. Yea!

Spending bills originate in the house and require house approval.

Spending bills are signed off by the President - he has the power of veto. The buck stops there unless Congress overrides the veto.

Are you claiming the democratic house has nothing to do with it?

Are you saying Obama is blameless for the debt accrued on his watch? [IMG]

I hated the debt created then and I hate it now. However, when Obama created it, he had a democratic congress, so it was all democrats.
No. I am claiming that the democrats are just as responsible as Trump and then we have this virus on top of it. There does not appear to be any other solution except to go into debt. We are going to pay for it later.

Trump was working on record debt levels BEFORE the virus - even when he had a Republican Congress.

And do you think that Obama was responsible for the crash that took place before he ever entered the Oval Office? No?
But you think that all the debt accumulated to relieve that crisis is his. So why doesn't Trump have responsibility for
the relief efforts of this crisis? Your hypocrisy is showing.

I did not think the bail out was necessary under Obama and the 2009 budget was prepared by the democratic house and signed by Obama.

This time the government is telling people not to work and they have to eat and pay the rent. I believe the bail out is necessary this time even though I don't agree with many parts of it. It is different and to claim it is not is pure hypocrisy.

It is a bailout because of economic conditions - no different than poor economic conditions of any other time because
    each has their own catalyst.

You only want to think it "different" because your god is in charge and he has to be "perfect".

Obama was absolutely responsible for each and every budget he signed off on.
    He had veto power.
Trump is responsible for every spending bill he signs off on. He has veto power.

To claim anything different is just quibbling.

Virtually no one is working. The economy has come to a very sudden stop. No one told people not to go to work in 2009. There was nothing to compare in 2009.

~ About 4 trillion of that is on China. Obama's "pandemic" did not necessitate a close down of the U.S. economy and he still did a good job spending .

He doesn't have to sign it it automatically becomes law after thirty days. Some governor's have pocket vetoes the president does not.

The congress and presidents all get a pass on spending and debt. They just point their fingers across the aisle and our media and dumb voters then take sides. It's always the other party's fault and changes back every few years. Duh.

Not everyone, obviously- but responsible people knew; there were just too many irresponsible people in the voting booths to get rid of the pandering, incompetents in their governments.
Free, you deserve, you are entitled, and somebody else will pay- are perhaps the most powerful political phrases there are, and the core of dem/left politics.
