I think the greatest failure of the Obama Presidency was not getting control of the debt in the final four years. Why should I hold Trump to even less accountability? Trump had a real opportunity to reduce spending in his first two fiscal year budgets, instead, he cranked up the fake dollars to make his economy look better on TV. Now we are going to end up with $7 trillion in increased debt in just four years of the Trump Presidency.

For the same reason places like Maine were expected to pay to bail out mid west soy bean farmers after stupid decisions in Washington. We belong to a country where our Constitution says the purpose of our Union is to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for common defense, promote general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty.
What right does a farmer in Kansas have to stop federal spending in Illinois while accepting federal money to prop up agriculture? Are agricultural combines more 'American" than teachers?
Now that I have told you what you asked can you tell me why a state that gives more to the Federal government than it takes should be denied federal help by a state that gives less than it takes?

There are tons of alternatives, stricter controls on aid — especially forgivable grants.
Placing limitations on companies getting aid.
Freezing mortgages and utilities and capping unemployment at 80% of wages.

Interesting take considering that leads to a government shut down, and you're on record as opposing those.

So is it showing leadership, or being a being a pathetic 13 year old Drama Queen, to shut down the government when the President vetoes a spending bill?

Bush had a Democrat house and Senate... And again for about the ninety fifth time now a bill becomes law after 30 days whether a president signs it or not.

The question was about responsibility. The poster I was addressing was trying to claim that the President wasn't responsible for the debt which ignored the veto power. A President can either chose to sign a bill or veto it, that is where responsibility lies.

You might want to wait until we have more evidence showing that getting the disease makes you immune to future infection before you go all "latest version".

a bit angry are we? That is not what I said my statement was that farmers and Teachers are both deserving of help in times of need and it does not relate to where they live. No one part of the country deserves less than any other. No one has yet addressed the fact that Illinois sends the government more money than they receive, does that make them any less worthy of assistance?

When you feel that sting, and they get their drop of blood, just remember that it's still better to be the horse than the fly.

In the form of income taxes because the average pay of someone in Illinois is higher than other states. In other words, those that are paid more have to pay more. Not just proportionately, but a higher rate. Isn't that what the democrats want? The wealthy needs to pay their fair share. The democrats keep saying that over and over.

A President can veto a spending bill, you just don't want him to. That's a legitimate position to take, unless you care about budget deficits, so you really don't care about deficits, is that correct?

I want a President who is capable of building compromise with Congress about budget reductions BEFORE he has to veto it.
Both Obama and Trump failed to do this.

That doesn't tell me anything about deficits.
