"1,200 gun stores have been closed by Democratic states in the last few years. This is part of a continued struggle by Democratic states to reduce the availability of guns to law-abiding citizens to want to protect their homes, their families, and themselves. But the Supreme Court said the Democratic states had every right to do this".

Imagine if such a news story was real? Republicans would be suing every Democrat on Earth, and talking about a revolution!!

But the truth is, its not Democrats that closed 1,200 gun stores around the country, its REPUBLICANS who have closed at least 1,200 voting stations, mostly in the South.

Yet most Americans consider the right to vote for our leaders, as previous as the right to possess a gun.

In the face of such a clear effort to rip away the right and ability to vote, we must make voting by mail an easy to achieve option for ALL registered voters.

Some states make it easy to do, other states make it difficult to find the option online.

Voting by mail is the future of modern elections.

Republicans do nothing to ever stop a US citizen to vote, not ever. There is zero reason to oppose voter ID laws other than you plan to cheat. No other reason.

Closing 1200 voting stations sure does make voting more difficult

Shooting people is a more fundamental right than electing them to public office.

Guess some of the illegal alien Democrat registered voters and dead people will have to vote fraudulently by mail in ballet this year:)

I would say that the future of modern elections is to vote online.

For instance, Amazon.com has had my credit card information on file for more than a decade. Not once have they ever charged me for something I did not order, or been hacked and my cc info stolen.

If we can fill out the Census online, which has even more ramifications than an election, then we can certainly vote online.

I see no reason to have a vote ID law and have never given cheating a thought. So you are categorically wrong in your assumption.

Completely agree. Problem is it would encourage young people to vote. Too many young people for the comfort of Republicans.

There is only one significant form of voter fraud in this country. And that's voter suppression. The ninty... something cases of voter fraud there have been in the last ten years are not going to sway an election.

Keeping an American from exercising their right to vote, in any way, should be a criminal offense.

It's one of the things the next Democratic President needs to solve before giving up the "abuse of power" privileges that Republicans have granted to the President.

There is no way of knowing how many cases of voter fraud because there has been no comprehensive effort to determine whether there is voter fraud.

How many cases is irrelevant. What is relevant is if it's endemic and capable of swaying an election.

The only type of voter fraud that could alter an election result is voter suppression. In other types, like voter impersonation, whatever the number of cases is, we know it's minuscule.

The most important thing we need to ensure is that every American exercises their right to vote. If that means that a couple of hundred votes nationwide get entered improperly (which has never happened), that is secondary to ensuring that all Americans exercise their right

    Actually it will be online

We did our last census online - it crashed the system but we did it

We also had a local election a couple of weeks ago. Staying away was not an option since it is mandatory to vote here, so they opened the polls a couple of weeks early and spaced all the voters out

I doubt that any have swayed a national election. However, I would be very surprised if they had not swayed a local election.

However, it is just as important that illegal ballots not be cast as it is for every one to be allowed to legally vote. Illegal votes disenfranchise an equal number of voters because their votes no longer count. One is just as bad as the other.

it would take QUITE a large conspiracy to commit voter fraud by stealing mail in ballots and submitting them, enough to swing an election

Lack of precinct workers is the primary thing dictating this not Republicans. And the driving force behind that is a growing since that politics is just to dirty a game to get involved in.

For a national election you are probably right. But not for a local election. Local politics can be brutal and I would be surprised if there have not been some local elections swayed by illegal voting.

There have been any real comprehensive efforts to determine whether there is voter fraud. To really determine it, it would require violations of voting privacy. Just because it has not be found, does not mean it does not exist. It would be too easy to cast an illegal ballot. The voting ID laws make it more difficult.

I know there have been three here closed in the last five years. My wife worked at one before her stroke. And the dude in charge goes to my church. One closed because no one was showing up another because of a lack of poll workers, most of them having been lost to attrition like my wife who can't do it any more. Others have simply shuffled of these mortal coil. A high percentage of poll workers in the south are us old fogies.

There is no evidence that requiring voter ID swayed a national election. So what is the problem?
