    The Trump administration will move to designate the loose association of militant left-wing, anti-fascist demonstrators commonly known as "Antifa" as a terrorist organisation, the president has announced in a tweet.

    "The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization," Donald Trump wrote amid a series of tweets on Sunday blaming violent outbursts and rioting at police brutality protests across America over the weekend on the group and other "Radical Left" elements.

    So? Why should I care. If they are engaged in terrorists activities then label them as terrorist. The question is, is this just more red meat for suckers, or if there just cause for such a designation? And if antifa isn't actually an organization, how do you do that?

    The proud boys arent even close to as bad as antifa.

    When the proud boys show up, violence only starts if they are met with opposition and even then usually its defense. Antifa commits violence when they show up regardless if there is opposition or not. Antifa is on video harassing elderly just trying to cross the street.

    I believe New Jersey already declared Antifa to be a terrorist group, so I doubt the left will complain about this very much.

    BTW, Trump could be the best president this country ever had.

    It would be awesome to see a bunch of antifa thugs get 20 years for domestic terrorism. I think something like that would quell their appetite for destruction.

    Where is the evidence? I'm not saying antifa or other organizations didn't have a hand in the violence - I have no idea if they did or didn't. Nor does anyone else. There is no proof. So why is antifa the only organization being blamed?

    The conspiracies put forward in the US to lay blame for the protests on a complex organized network is part of a pattern of shifting that has become increasingly common in America. Rather than seeing entrenched racism and police brutality as fueling protests, including police violence against journalists, there is a preference to see a hidden hand that can be more easily labeled as an enemy.

    These are tactics that were once more common to the Soviet bloc countries and Middle Eastern regimes when trying to explain protests. For instance, the Assad regime asserted that legitimate protests in 2011 were an imperialist conspiracy. Today, the situation appears reversed: In the US across the political spectrum, there is a preference to see protests as part of a cartel, white supremacists, antifa, Russians and MS-13 gangs, as opposed to local grievances bubbling over after a very visible sign of police brutality.

    He should also designate these organizations as terrorists :
    1) KKK
    2) National Policy Institute
    3) All the other White Supremacist organizations.
    If he doesn't name these above people as terrorists, he shouldn't name Antifa as terrorists.
