Pelosi and a bunch of Democrat (and maybe a few Republicans to be sure) congresspeople want the statues of Confederates removed from congressional buildings in respect for blacks, but why stop there? How about removing the statue honoring former KKK leader Byrd? Or how about changing the names on many things in W. Va. from Byrd to something else? Or how about changing the name of the Russell office building, named after ardent segregationist Sen. Richard Russell?
"Why stop at statues?" you mean why don't the right actually start another civil war? why stop at erecting statues?
We have streets named for a known philander by the name of MJK, Jr. This man treated black women like his slaves. It's all in the FBI files as a result of surveillance ordered at J. Edgar Hoover's direction.
Why don't you admit you admire these less than honorable characters because you are using sarcasm and mocking what is happening.
Actually that is fact but probably left for another thread. Back on topic, I have just as much right to be offended by a, MLK memorial as a BLM activist does being afraid of a Columbus statue.
Automobiles should be the next targets 1.Fords especially, since Ford was an anti Semite and admired Hitler 2.The VW of course, since it was designed by Hitler 3.All stretch limos of any make, which are symbols of privilege 4.Bernie Sanders car for sheer hypocrisy of a Marxist driving a 120k car 5.pre burned Media News mobiles or Police cars to fool rioters and looters to think this area already assaulted
You clearly don’t understand the meaning of ‘slave’. By all means, feel free to join the snowflakes and be offended at whatever you like.
Sen Byrd changed. The Black community came to be some of his strongest supporters.. But your question is valid.
What is your position on the removal of statues honoring confederate figures in history? Especially considering a majority of them were erected as a symbol of the south's resistance to segregation well after the Civil War was over. NAACP Praises Byrd In the end, the political legacy of Robert Byrd went from admitting his former membership in the Ku Klux Klan to winning the accolades of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The group rated the senator's voting record as being 100% in line with their positions during the 203-2004 congressional session. In June 2005, Byrd sponsored a bill allocating an additional $10 million in federal funds for the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial in Washington, D.C. When Byrd died at age 92 on June 28, 2010, the NAACP released a statement saying that over the course of his life he “became a champion for civil rights and liberties” and “came to consistently support the NAACP civil rights agenda.” https://www.thoughtco.com/robert-byrd-kkk-4147055 If black Americans want Byrd's statue taken down I have no problem with it.
The argument that because those memorials were put up during Jim Crow means they were placed up for white supremacy and to intimidate blacks is incredibly dishonest and factually incorrect. The war ended in 1865 and the north kept a standing army in the south until 1875. Even if the south had the resources to build memorials to their fallen dead (which they didn’t) they would not have been ALLOWED to do so. Combine that with the fact that Jim Crow started in the late 1870’s (we will say 1880 to make the math easier) and lasted up until the late 1940’s... What you’re essentially arguing is that if the south didn’t put up their memorials within a FIVE year period from 1875-1880, that they were solely placed to support white supremacy and intimidate blacks and as such they should all be torn down. That is patently ludicrous and highly dishonest.
Why not remove Pelosi and Schumer, who cynically wore the dress of Africans who traded slaves so they could buy guns? It was apparently a thank you to the tribe that sold slaves to Democrat plantation owners back in the day.
So you're saying that if a person (or country) has changed for the better, you shouldn't in fact concentrate on past actions? That's interesting.
"When the looting starts, the shooting starts" (When he tried to sic the army on them, that's what they call a clue.....)
I don't see a problem with that. It's not race specific, anyone looting and using a protest as a vehicle to commit violence and theft probably deserves to be shot.
