The insanity. Any person can going LOOKING for something post a faux outrage on social media get some hits and suddenly a life long respectful tradition is now RACIST. I stopped buy Land O' Lakes butter because they bowed to this nonsense and took off a very respectful picture a beautiful American Indian woman off their packaging.

    And now

Uncle Ben's follows Aunt Jemima in move to phase out racial stereotypes in logos
    https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/17/business/uncle-bens-rice-racist/index.html

Let's just wipe Blacks and American Indians off everything!

The old saying "where everything is evidence of something then nothing is evidence of that something"

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/pepsic...acist-stereotype-11592398455?mod=hp_lead_pos2

How far will this go, will every snowflakes however inane complaint have to be met?

Are you really incapable of recognizing why those stereotypes were offensive to a significant portion of the population?

This just seems to be capitalism at work. These private company are just trying to maximize their customer base and profits. You said you stopped buying Land O' Lakes butter because of these type of changes. If enough consumers felt the same way as you they would continue with the logo or whatever they changed. The world is just moving on and social opinions are changing with the new generations and masses.

The issue isn't with the historical accuracy of the depictions. The problem is the way they are used.

So they can feature blacks in just about every commercial currently being made today, but a logo is racist.

    1. Every commercial does not feature African-Americans.
    2. If any African-Americans or Native Americans were depicted the way are on the respective logos mentioned in the OP, it would be racist.

Is this racist? And not being able to explain how the syrup logo is racist doesn't make it racist.

I personally don't see the problem with those 2 products, except they both seem really dated in 2020. My family doesn't use either product.

I don't see how they will "phase out" the stereotypes, since the name is their brand, but I guess it's some combination of the pictures and the names that bothers people...

If you don't have a picture of Uncle Ben or Aunt Jemima (currently vacationing together in the Bahamas), I'm not sure where the product goes. As opposed to Land O Lakes, which can really go anywhere with that name.

Better get Big Mamma off hbo too, oh wait that was a famous black actor. I'm so confused now, would it matter if it was a big white grandma or would that be racist too. Bottom line this is getting stupid period.

What would be the point in discussing it? You are convinced that you are correct and I'm not up for arguing with you about it.

If it was a real person like Uncle Ben's, then I'd probably say this is silly. But she wasn't. She was a racist caricature taken from spinstrel shows.

Im sorry but this is clearly our country falling a part. It is insane people!!!’ This is just pancakes and syrup but it goes so much deeper and it is EVIL!

Get ready for social currency like in China and some other Asian countries. You will be ****ED and unable to live unless you fall in line like a good little sheep. Get ready people. It’s coming. The SJWs are going to start demanding it and our dumb **** politicians are going to cave and it will be OVER. Kiss the 1A good bye. Kiss you freedoms good bye. It’s coming. Our business leaders and politicians are such bloody cowards. Incompetent cowards for allowing this insanity to continue by not calling it out for what it is.

Social currency Will be able to eliminate the 1A without ever touching it. No one will stop you from saying or believing whatever you want. But you won’t be able to get credit. You won’t be able to get into college. You won’t be able to get a job. Won’t be able to do anything if enough people rate you down. Worst technology nightmare is coming.

You haven't put up an argument because you don't have one. If the logo was racist, dont you think the snowflakes would have whined about it before now?

Like all pendulums, when it was swung so far one direction (slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, financial bigotry, exclusion ...) against
black American Citizens, when it swings back the other way, it's going to over-correct in some ways for awhile. Just
    the natural law of things.

But when you look at the weight of things, is it the end of the world when it swings from segregation to removing a few labels off products? Do you think black Americans are really getting the best of things in that exchange?

Really? You aren't willing to let slide a label change on a product compared to decades of bigotry?

Rome had a little bit of an overcorrection with their clash of cultures as well. Didn't turn out to well for Rome.

Ok now hold on would it be racist if it were a white grandma? Would it be racist if an African American came up with the character? Black people don't have awesome larger grandma's that cook so good everyone wants to go to her house to eat. This is beyond stupid.

What about little debbie??? obviously racist. Wendys? Is that why they torched wendys? the outrage over a restaurant being named after a red headed white girl? obviously racist against gingers. Is the term ginger racist? where does this **** end. **** you everyone who makes a big deal out of race. You are a bunch of little whiny punks who can't admit that the only person responsible for your lot in life is yourself.
