The problem is that EVERYTHING is racist. And no matter how many labels you change or how many towns you destroy, or how many statues you remove, the problems within the black community will still be the same.

 

When I was a kid we used to get Russian Black Bread (that was the label on the wrapper) that was dark and had the consistency almost of stone. Cheap and it stuck to your ribs. I wonder what happened to it? Politics? idk. It would make good survival food. If my parents bought it it was value food, like Shredded Wheat, which came in large unsweetened biscuits, one filled a bowl, and was considered poor people food back then, the cheapest breakfast you could buy in the store, and not very tasty at all, bland.

Jewish Rye Bread is the best tasting bread you can buy in the store now imo, and it isn't cheap. If the military likes it, demands it, and buys it Jewish Rye Bread should be in the commissaries. The commissaries and BX's are there for the morale and retainment of military personnel and only their needs and wants should be considered, disregarding all opinion of outsiders and civilians.

 

The only difference between then and now is the onset of Karen's. Lighten up Francis, it's just a bottle of syrup.

We go through this kind of insanity periodically in this country, Blues. I'm an old guy and I've seen it over and over, for years, ever since the 1960's. It's all part of big hub-bub to get everybody believing that negroes have it oh-so damned BAD in this country, and that what we must do is shower them with even more welfare and 'social programs'.

But, big companies can change product names and icon images all they want. Ultimately, when you buy this brand of 'syrup', what you're getting is: CORN SYRUP, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, WATER, CELLULOSE GUM, CARAMEL COLOR, SALT, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, SODIUM BENZOATE AND SORBIC ACID (PRESERVATIVES), SODIUM HEXAMETAPHOSPHATE.

Instead of that crap, I recommend pure maple syrup -- no matter whose name in on the paper on the bottle, or what they look like....

I was being sarcastic about whether Jewish Rye bread should be available in military commissaries.

Yes Eastern European Jewish bakers did bake a bread called "Russian black bread or Russian bread". It was thick it was dark like pumpernickel.
Jews from Eastern Europe tended to identify with Russia so they called it Russian black bread even if they actually came from Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia etc.

My parents were from Ukraine and Rye bread was a staple. Hense they went to Jewish owned bakeries even though we were not Jews. In fact both of my parents worked in a Jewish bakery for a short time after we came to this country. My father considered white bread such as Wonder something near poison.

My father used to say that " after the last Eastern European Jewish baker dies we will never have any decent Rye bread in this country".

I "hate " anything Russian so I will never buy any bread or anything called "Russian" made in Russia or even if it has any hint of Russia or Russian. I do not drink any Russian vodka.

The Russians sent both of my grandfather's to Siberia, one died there the other lived for a few years after he returned.
