Mueller breaks his silence to defend Russia investigation and Stone prosecution
    July 11, 2020 at 6:55 p.m. EDT
Former special counsel Robert S. Mueller III broke a nearly-year long silence to defend his office’s prosecution of Roger Stone and his larger investigation of the 2016 Trump campaign, in an op-ed piece that publicly pushed back against attacks from the president and his supporters.

The piece, which will appear in Sunday’s Washington Post, is a remarkable departure from Mueller’s self-imposed silence as the political debate surrounding his work has continued to rage more than a year after he concluded his investigation of Russia’s interference in the last presidential election. And it underscores the degree to which the cases Mueller brought have been undone or undermined by the Trump administration and others.

Robert Mueller: Roger Stone remains a convicted felon, and rightly so

Mueller’s 700-word piece recounts the high-stakes investigation that consumed the White House for the better part of two years, resulting in convictions of a number of Trump’s confidantes, including Stone. Trump granted Stone a commutation Friday evening, just days before he was due to report to prison.

In announcing the commutation, the White House issued a lengthy statement blasting Mueller’s work. Mueller, in turn, used his highly uncharacteristic public statement to remind the public what his investigation found.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Robert Mueller is (finally) speaking out to defend his investigation and to affirm that Roger Stone is a convicted felon, and rightly so.

Mueller reminding everyone that even a corrupt & amoral Swamp Creature like himself couldn't manufacture the lies desired from nothing, but that he's still willing to splash around in the swill of his lucrative service to said Swamp?

Mueller a disgrace to everything but the muck that made him?

    Utterly.

So what? The left, when they aren't calling for emptying prisons, are literally emptying prisons due to the virus and no cash bail. Besides, is Stone a threat to you or anyone else? Where does the country benefit by having a 67 year old NON VIOLENT man in prison? Did n'tyou guys scream bloody murder about NON VIOLENT people being put in prison? Why the sudden change of heart?

Man - Democrats sure weren't looking to limit pardon power when Slick WIllie and The Obamassiah were handing out the candy.

They've evolved I guess; just one more reason to...

Clinton and Bush 41 used the pardon power corruptly. W and Obama restored some integrity to the process. Except for W giving Scooter a commutation.

Clinton used that power corruptly. So did Bush 41. Trump managed to beat them both.

Mueller as man of high integrity, an American patriot who served his country has finally spoken. Trump the protector of criminal clowns such as Roger Stone has no shame but what can you expect from a corrupt politician who loves crime and criminals over love or service to his country.

You know maybe he does love his country, Russia.

Are process crimes not a crime in your book?

Obstruction of a Congressional investigation, five counts of lying to Congress and witness tampering.

This was banana republic stuff. It all began as an operation to tie Putin to trump using utter abuse of the system. A soft coup as VIPS called it early on. All of these politically driven investigations charge people with process crimes but never find the conspiracy..

Sure. But selective prosecution is corruption. Heads on Intel lie to Congress and the CIA spied on its own oversight committee. Illegal. Nothing happens to them.

Stone was not a conspirator. He lied to the feds and even an honest man can be charged for lying. FBI entraps.

These things are political and an abuse of our system.
