It literally took me 2 seconds to find dozens of fraudulent gorundme campaigns... and those are just the ones that were caught. From their own website, “We rely on the GoFundMe community to let us know if there is suspicion that a campaign organizer is involved in any of the examples of fraud above.” So all he has to do is not tell anyone. Nice try though.
They will either make the check to Goya foods, or give a Goya gift-buying account card to the D.C. Food Bank. Funds go to the person or organization being helped, not to the campaign organizer. Only if Goya Foods or the D.C. Food Bank were fraudulent organizations would they "get caught". Nice try though. You sound a little sad that people are feeding the hungry.
Really? Please show where I sound sad for pointing out that fraud does happen on go fund me. Facts have feelings now I guess.
Sorry, I stand corrected. Cynicism about the motivation behind good peoples' generously and insinuations that the fundraising organizer is a scammer is not "sadness" which you express. I used the wrong word. Meanwhile...$60+k buys a lot of Goya beans for the D.C. food bank!
agree, this is like the right attacking to go cups cause they are red during Christmas that said, it's often a mistake for a business to get political as they could lose half their customers, it's risky
Accepting an invitation to the White House, regardless who is in office, to submit opinions on furthering the needs of the Hispanic community was not political partisanship on the part of Goya's CEO. The only consistent "political" aspect between Mr. Unanue going to the White House during both the Obama and Trump administrations is his political advocacy for Latinos. If Democrats and Republicans switch places every 4-8 years, then people are supposed to just sit quietly until the "correct party" is in control?
' ~ All those beans...that's a gassy bunch of folks ! People enjoying the GOYA Brand ~ ~ Bush voted for Hillary. Nobody wants his stinkin´ beans . Goya Foods, Inc. is an American producer of a brand of foods sold in the United States and many Hispanic countries. It has facilities in different parts of the United States, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Spain. [ Wikipedia ]
It makes no difference to me what a CEO of any company political views are. If I want a product produced or made by Goya I'll buy it. Makes no difference if their CEO supports Trump or Biden or no one. Far as I'm concerned, everyone is free to support any political candidate they wish and to have any political views, ideology and philosophy they so believe in. A boycott probably won't hurt this CEO or whatever he is one bit, but it may hurt some workers who could be laid off. With the pandemic going on, that is probably the last thing the peons of Goya want. What's funny is the two boycotts I remember, the one for chik-fil-a which produced a month of record profits for the company and the one of Walmarts for pulling the General Lee off the shelves didn't phase either company one bit.
I think it was the praising Trump, not the going to the White House, he could have just thanked him and been on his way.... but anyways, we will see if it hurts them or not, don't think many care either way with this company
The point of the event was to announce White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative. Expecting the owner of a Latino-run corporation to not have kind words for the President and the administration shows how divided this country has become. "Not caring either way", dependent on party, is a sign of the times.
did not say he should not, but in a divided country, it can effect profits to go the extra mile and kiss Trump's feet maybe he thinks he will get more new customers than he loses, only time will tell
BLM is a seditious violent movement with a death count. Corporations that support Sedition need to be held to account. And there's room for a WHOLE LOT OF LITIGATION HERE: To stop ‘cancel culture,’ protect people’s viewpoints under civil rights law. Civil rights conspiracy laws, both civil and criminal, should be so employed.
That happened with the boycott of Chik-fil-a. Chik-fil-a showed record profits for a month or two once the boycott was announced. I think most boycotts are nothing more than hot air with only a few following through.
Bought a can of Goya black beans and a can of Goya garbonzo beans today after work. Those weren't on this list until few days ago. Having beef and bean nachos tonight, and hummus and chips later this week.
~ I think many Hispanic & Black Americans who struggle at the bottom of the incone ladder appreciate the historic increase in wage/employment and the tax cut given this sector under the Trump administration. It's always nice when people say "Thank you " . I believe most Americans feel the same. NOTE : Here where I live several posts on Next Door website mentioned they are bringing cans of GOYA items to our local food pantry .
Looks like the fundraiser is booming. 120k of products, so far, to D.C. food banks. Looking forward to seeing some videos of Goya product deliveries.
Opportunity Zones. Made funding to black colleges permanent. And, now the Hispanic education initiative. These are all good programs for America.
I'm not either, Chik-fil-a is more expensive than the other fast food joints like Wendy's, Burger King, McDonalds etc. The wife and several of the grand kids really like Chik-fil-a though. They usually get their way.
