What if Trump ran on his record?

Trump, amidst repeated assurances that he would come clean with his tax returns, had touted a 2,000-mile, big, beautiful “Great Wall” made of reinforced concrete and paid for by Mexico.

“It’s going to be made of hardened concrete,
and it’s going to be made out of rebar!…
I would build a great wall,

and nobody builds walls better than me,
believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively!
I will build a great, great wall on our southern border.
And I will have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words!"

    Words marked.

As he aspires to recidivism, he can point to three miles of new steel fence that he raided the US military budget to pay for.

Trump brayed that, when elected, he would “immediately” repeal ‘ObamaCare’ and the then Republican-controlled House and Republican-controlled Senate parroted that commitment like giddy kamikaze pilots about to soar into the wild blue yonder. Trump vowed to replace the ACA with “something terrific!” that covers “everybody!” at “less cost!”

Today, with millions fewer Americans insured and millions more losing employer-administers coverage amidst rising cost and high unemployment, ‘ObamaCare’ is still the law of the land - and most Americans like it that way.

When inaugurated in January, 2017, as several folks on the Washington Mall observed, the nation was in its seventh year of continuous economic growth after the Bush/Cheney Great Recession. Trump rode that recovery for a while as if it were Stormy Daniels, but he suddenly went devastatingly limp like a combusting Hindenburg.

Lashing out at Bubba Wallace is a sad attempt at compensation.

Transferring blame is the Trumpiest hallmark of the regime, antithetical to “The buck stops here!” presidential acknowledgement of responsibility by his predecessors.

Could Trump bleat, Most Americans agree that I stink, but it’s all because of that poopy head Xi Jinping's horrible pandemic devastating the nation!?

    Oh, oh! Too late:

    Screen Shot 2020-08-04 at 9.18.59 AM.png
“China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus.
The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency.
It will all work out well.
In particular, on behalf of the American People,
I want to thank President Xi!”

    January 24, Twitter

    Right, Casino Boy.

That would be the pandemic you prepared the nation for by assuring everyone that you had it “under control!”, the one that would just “go away!”, the one in which, “We have few people with it and they’re getting better - everybody is getting better!”

Contrive diversions to the nation’s rebuilt infrastructure? Resurrected coal mining jobs? Revived steel manufacturing?

    “Oh yeah!
    Well the necktie/loin cloth sector
    has never been better!…
and the national debt under Trump
    is positively tumescent!”

    Forget about that wall!

No Mexican caravan of rapists is about to compromise the impregnable virtue of Bunky Trump!

Donald Trump was reportedly taken by the Secret Service to an underground bunker beneath the White House that’s intended to defend against terrorist attacks...

Unlike Trump, former Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden ventured out Sunday — a rarity for him during the coronavirus pandemic—visiting what was the site of protests and rioting Saturday night in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/nichol...-underground-bunker-report-says/#5d04859a5d98

Trump claimed he was just "inspecting" the bunker.

"Screw Dorothy! Quick! Let's 'inspect' that bunker!"

I fully understand your reluctance to honestly address the centerpieces of Trump's 2016 campaign - his immediate repeal and replacement of 'ObamaCare' with "something terrific!" that covers "everybody!" at "less cost!", his big, beautiful 2,000 mile wall of hardened concrete and rebar that he would make Mexico pay for, his rebuilding America's crumbling infrastructure, his revitalizing the steel industry, his reviving cola mining.

In fact, I can't imagine any diehard Trumper willingly discussing any of those matters.

Well, its obvious you wouldn't want Trump running on his record of the past 4 years cause all the media focuses on is the last 6 months, especially in the economy sector.

News media just don't reminisce enough for some, rather than reporting current issues, but Trump's 2,000-mile, big, beautiful “Great Wall” made of reinforced concrete and paid for by Mexico, his immediately replacing his repealed 'ObamaCare' with “something terrific!” that covers “everybody!” at “less cost!,” his resurrecting coal mining, reviving the steel industry, and rebuilding the nation's infrastructure are not matters of recent vintage.

Bahahahah!!! This coming from people who haven't let the 2016 election go, still claim all of Trumps economy prior to Feb was Obama, and still constantly talk about American slavery that ended 150 years.

No, actually, I have opined none of those things, and am unfamiliar with the people of whom you speak, or how your attempted diversion concerns Trump's failed agenda.

Surely, if Trump had fulfilled his campaign rhetoric and built a 2,000 mile wall of hardened concrete and rebar that he had made Mexico pay for, if he had actually repealed 'ObamaCare' and replaced it with "something terrific!" that "covers everybody!" at "less cost!", if he had resurrected coal mining, revived the steel industry, and rebuilt the US infrastructure, he would be hyping those promises fulfilled in his 2020 campaign, wouldn't he? Being able to claim that he did what he said he would do would afford him convenient diversions from his failure to provide competent leadership in dealing with the pandemic that he did not have "under control", that did not just "go away," that did not meet his assurance that, “We have few people with it and they’re getting better - everybody is getting better!”

You said "News media just don't reminisce enough for some,...". I pointed out several issues in which the news media reminisce about things from 1619 like the NY Times just did. But sure, claim what you will and believe everything else is fabrication of reality.

How about the current take on Trump's commitment to build a 2,000 mile wall of hardened concrete and rebar and making Mexico pay for, his repeal of 'ObamaCare' and replacement with "something terrific!" that "covers everybody!" at "less cost!", his resurrection of coal mining, his revival of the steel industry, his rebuilding the US infrastructure?

Are you upset by an objective assessment of how he has fulfilled his campaign promises as he campaigns yet again?

It strikes me as eminently reasonable and appropriate to do so.

Trump was the president while the economy was good so folks are going to assume he did it. Nobody is ever really able to articulate just how he did it, but he was there when it happened so, obviously, yeah.

He did lower taxes, he's appointed a large number of judges, and he's dabbled in taking on China and illegal immigration. The first two are concrete accomplishments that don't rely on proximity and magic, like the economy claim does. He can easily run on those. The last two will please people just because he tried.

But mostly they'll vote for him because they're on Team Trump, and they'd have never voted for a Democrat anyway.

Oh, shoot, almost forgot his greatest accomplishment, and one that most folks forget about.

Did you know.....that he banned travel to/from China in January, and this singular action was all that was necessary to save the country from COVID-19?

Your need to divert is noted. Trump said lots of things, and his skewed tax cut to the wealthy contributed to his massively bloated national debt.

The reality-tv performer's worshippers are, understandably, desperate to avoid honestly addressing the matter of his oft-repeated commitment to build a 2,000 mile wall of hardened concrete and rebar and making Mexico pay for, his repeal of 'ObamaCare' and replacement with "something terrific!" that "covers everybody!" at "less cost!", his resurrection of coal mining, his revival of the steel industry, his rebuilding the US infrastructure.

I'm reasonably sure Kev12345 is saying Trump promised the middle class a tax break which has never materialized.
    Color me unsurprised.

The desperate diversion from Fake Don's failures to fulfill all the campaign promises listed fails on its own:
His oft-repeated commitment to build a 2,000 mile wall of hardened concrete and rebar and making Mexico pay for?

His repeal of 'ObamaCare' and replacement with "something terrific!" that "covers everybody!" at "less cost!"?

    His resurrection of coal mining?

His revival of the steel industry?

His rebuilding the nation's crumbling infrastructure.?

Wait, are you suggesting a presidential candidate made a promise while campaigning?

    Inconceivable!

Other countries fought the Virus wisely and didn't have a 32 % drop in their economy

Trump's failed response destroyed our economy with 32 million unemployed

Really? You need to do some basic research. Germany dropped 34%. The EU was down about 30%. The UK hit its worst economic drop in 300 years!!! Our unemployment is higher because the USA is a service based economy. Trump is in the same boat as everyone else.
