If a legislative branch of government does not overrule the executive order/proclamation/mandate or if the people don't challenge it through the judicial branch then I have to believe the majority of the population supports that executive order/proclamation/mandate.

Have you seen the people freak out if you aren't wearing a mask in public?

They are furious because the person not wearing one refuses to knuckle under.

It's rather worrying when people try to make believe that exercising freedom is selfish.

It makes me wonder if there is more to it than just trying to stop the spread of a virus no more dangerous than the seasonal flu.

Watch the lemmings go after me for saying that.

They have the authority to tell all state officials to wear a mask, but not the general citizenry, unless they pass a state law that requires it.

It's inconceivable to me that a state governor could simply order residents to do whatever he or she wants them to do without a law that requires it.

No, I’m.not. I disavow the violent act. Again, had common sense prevailed, they would have let him go. No violent act committed. If anything, you are supporting the instigators of the incident.

By saying that he should have been "left alone"...you are defending what he did

    Pure nonsense

The man is a criminal and engaged in a violent criminal act.

    YOU are excusing that act

    Case study

    Kansas

    Governor mandates masks.

She is overruled. It becomes a county issue and those counties that have a mask mandate have a far lower infection rate

What's peculiar to me is the kind of rights some are willing to infringe on, but at the same time jealousy guarding others, even at the expense of Covid safety.

My company sends me an email when someone who worked there confirms positive Covid. But they will not tell anyone who, or even what shift they were on. Hundreds of workers. What exactly am I supposed to do with this vague information? And when I talk about it, everyone looks at me as if I'm a freak for daring to question medical privacy. Wait a minute! This can be fatal. I need to know who it was so I can think back and recall if I worked next to that person, or maybe got a ride from them. I can actually USE that info and maybe not see my mom for a couple weeks.

Are people really willing to support literally taking away my right to walk outside and have a breath of fresh air, but not the right to privacy when that privacy can kill my family in a much more direct way?

Right. None of them were persuasive in the least. You advocate for the usurpation of power and tyranny, the end of the rule of law.

So necessary in a time of universal deception over a virus with an extremely low death rate.

For the sake of simplicity, I will start with your link from the ABA, which states:

An executive order is a signed, written, and published directive from the President of the United States that manages operations of the federal government.

    https://www.americanbar.org/groups/...ching-legal-docs/what-is-an-executive-order-/

Nowhere do I see where it manages the operations of the general citizenry. If it did, we'd all be living under a constant state of tyranny where every president or governor could dictate every aspect of our daily lives. So you see, it's not so much whether I disagree with your links, but whether or not you agree with your own ABA link.

You misunderstand. I did not "advocate" anything, I simply posted information.

I question whether this would do more harm than good. IMO, re-opening everything without restriction would almost certainly lead to an exhaustion of medical resources. In that case we won't need a government mandated shutdown, people will isolate on their own. And that, my friend, is a doomsday scenario for jobs and the economy.

I’m a farmer and can’t conceive a situation where two farmers would share a pond, let alone 12.

What we do have though is community centers in the little towns of 75-300 inhabitants. The centers have large and small meeting rooms, commercial kitchens, and restrooms. These inhabitants and all the surrounding rural population are free to use the center for funerals, receptions, business presentations, or large family gatherings. Volunteers distribute keys, handle scheduling, and collect small fees when keys are turned back in to cover utilities and maintenance. Volunteers do maintenance using fee funds for materials. The group using the facilities is responsible for cleaning the entire facility immediately after their function is over. Typically the majority of people attending the function stay to help with this.

There is no central authority or enforcement of payments and cleaning. Yet the places are always clean, there is no graffiti in the bathrooms, and the dishes, cooking utensils and appliances don’t disappear.

How is this possible? How can people that would all die if they had to share a pond manage such success with a mere convenience item and far more than 12 people involved? Do community centers like I’ve described sound terrible to you?

Being left alone would not have provoked him. The Karen’s and Kevin’s of the world brought it on themselves. A statement that would actually back what you’re saying is, “It was good he attacked them regardless.”

But I have said nothing of the kind.

Any criminal is going to tell you that he wasn't at fault. Someone "provoked him"

    You're defending a criminal...a dangerous one

They're furious because those people not wearing masks are putting their health and lives at risk.

No flu since the horrific Spanish Flu 100 years ago was as dangerous as this thing

Isn't that just because we vaccinate it? What percentage of the people that have died from it really actually died from pre-existing conditions that were complicated by the virus? Otherwise the precise people we are trying to protect when we get flu immunizations?

    From that same link:
That ABA link was not intended to be a stand-alone reference but as support with the other links. While you make a valid point, I feel the link is valid in the fact that it points out an Executive Order has the force of law.

    From another link I provided.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_executive_order#Powers

Maybe Executive Orders are not intended to "manages the operations of the general citizenry" but that is how many of them have been used over the years. If that is not what the citizenry wants then that citizenry should change things.
