"In a landmark move, President Trump signed four different executive orders related to coronavirus economic relief."
    https://www.oann.com/president-trump-signs-4-executive-orders-on-covid-19-relief/

    The four executive orders cover:

    - the unemployment bonus (paid on top of unemployment benefits) will continue, but it will be $400/wk instead of $600/wk

    - deferred student loan payments. (Not student loan forgiveness like the Democrats wanted, but a zero interest deferment.)

    - deferred payroll taxes thru the end of the year. The payroll taxes may or may not have to be repaid in the future.

    - directs the administration to help with renter assistance by identifying any "available funds to "provide temporary financial assistance to renters and homeowners who, as a result of the financial hardships caused by COVID-19, are struggling to meet their monthly rental or mortgage obligations.""

It will be interesting to watch this play out. It is unfortunate the two sides couldn't come to an agreement without Trump having to go to these lengths, but today's political war games are what they are.

I wonder if Democrats will fight this. I think it will "look" terrible to the American people if they do.

I don't love executive orders, but Trump seems to be using this maneuver in a way which will genuinely help people in a time when time is of the essence. I suppose this falls into the category of "if ever there was a time to justify executive orders, this is it."

I wonder if the unemployed will be angry that the $600 weekly windfall has been reduced to $400, or if they'll be thrilled with $400 considering it had dropped to $0 last week. $400 is less than $600, but a lot more than $0.

I'm also much happier with deferring student loan payments, rather than forgiving them, as the Democrats wanted.

I'm kind of disappointed there won't be another round of stimulus checks because I feel like these helped the most people the most fairly and the most quickly. Of all the things to spend money on, this was one of the things I supported the most.

I would also have liked to see some sort of extension of the small business loans. Some small businesses in particular are taking a beating. Some already won't ever recover.

Maybe this will be a wake up call and the Democrats and Republicans can come together now to address small businesses and stimulus checks, without the damn pork this time.

    Thoughts?

I’m not a fan of executive orders either, but the politicians are more worried about political power than truly helping anybody. I guess he had to do something if the American people were going to get any help.
Once again, I despise all politicians.

Trump does have a way of slapping Pelosi around like a rag doll.
I dislike executive orders but I love the way Trump is handling the ineptness so prevalent in the house and senate.

It must go to court and be challenged. I can't even imagine the Republicans congress is happy with this.

But if it doesn't. This is a huge win for Democrat Presidents in the future.

I always knew Donald was a liberal at the core. I never understood why the left fought him so hard. If they played him with love they could have their hearts desires.

dems will sue to delay people getting UE benefits.

it’s tragic but they will play games hoping hurting people will hurt the president

how is it a big win?

obviously the president and gop would rather there be bipartisan legislation...the dems however are more interested in playing political games

Not by by-passing Congress' power of the purse. They have redirected money already approved by Congress, but they haven't spent money not authorized by Congress. Trump just did that. Trump just pulled a Putin by removing the need for Congress. You damn well better hope a Democrat isn't elected in November, cause you just handed the White House the power to sidestep Congressional power outlined in the Constitution.

Why do you hate the Constitution?

Real Republicans know it’s crap. Even calling is unconstitutional slop.

Wait so he is full onboard with cutting Social
    Security?

he isn’t bypassing Congress power of the purse. He has the power no to enforce taxes...and the 400 is already allocated

If they do that, its going to be a political mine field for them. And they're going to have to spin it in hard core to make sure that their gets read and not the message that the dems will be sending is that we don't care about you. And in a election year no less. So sue away dems

how’s that a reach? you didn’t realize that law endorsement has discretion?

i have no doubt the dems will try hard to delay any aid getting out there. they want to hurt the american people as much as they can thinking it will hurt trump...it’s sad how they holding america a hostage is a win

    Fake News.

President Papa Bush reduced withholdings nearly 30 years ago.

Oh sure, the anti-Trumpers are the "Real Republicans!" They are worthless rejects. They are as committed to appeasing the Left as the mayor of Portland.
If they truly believe this, they are free to litigate it. Put up or shut up.
Fake News Lies. He has made NO cuts to Social Security benefits.

Enjoy watching your candidate "gaffe-a-day" Joe!

Fake News, Propaganda. Sad that's all folks have, Americans see right through the lies and smears!

There's a reason you didn't include anything to support your claim, someone is feeding you a fabrication so foul that even the lowest of the Left-wing Scum Propaganda Outlets won't even attempt it.
