Luckily for them, most foreign films don't give a **** about diversity...

So I guess they're never going to win.

    More future affirmative action winners.

That’s how they will be remembered.

Not that I was a huge fan of The Godfather but you're correct I don't think it includes anything on the checklist.

So it's not an award for best picture?

Not only The Godfather. Most of the best movies ever made.

    Casablanca
The Wizard of Oz (unless you count the lion as gay)
    Citizen Kane
    Schindler's List
    Saving Private Ryan
    Singing in the Rain
    Some Like it Hot
    ET
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    City Lights
    It's a Wonderful Life
    The Sound of Music
    The Ten Commandments

Most of all the old great movies

Really? Are you sure? Did you check all the credits in those movies to see who was head of costume design and head of hairdressing? Do you know if those people were black, or gay? Or lesbians?

And there are quite a few gay and lesbian people involved in theatre (even behind the scenes), so some of those films might very well have ticked the boxes.

Edit - Wizard of Oz would almost certainly have met at least partial requirements, with all the munchkins.

That’s the point. How can you know if some of the people meet those requirements?

Is it introducing quotas? Yes. In order to help people get into the industry, who may have been unfairly excluded. I’m not saying I 100% agree with this, but I understand it. And I doubt anyone will see any difference in the quality of films going forward.

Think how much better the movies would have been if Fredo was a Black Transgendered woman who also was deaf and missing a leg from birth... instead of discussing the Mafia they could have had all three movies about LGBTWEWAGWEG? rights!!!!

Im cool with this, and actually should take it a step further. Every movie should have, for every 10 characters, .6 of a black man that kills half the characters. Lets get these movies truly lifelike

.6? Can he be a black midget? That would be cool. Like to be oscar worthy there has to be a black midget just randomly inserted in the move somewhere.

I don’t think Hollywood produced any good movies in the last 5-6 years.
They are killing their own industry here. Europeans might end up taking the lead.

Not societal norms as mush as random, arbitrary & rapidly shifting purity standards.

You know how liberals accuse conservatives of being puritanical?

I think that's what they call projection.

If you think the Motion Picture Academy has ever had more than a passing acquaintance with 'art' then you are under a rock so big you are beyond help.

It and Hollywood do have a long history of bowing to societal norms. The difference is that they were conservative norms, so the people who get all upset by the idea of diverse film crews either didn't know or didn't care (and still don't).
