Those creating the name an logo in the beginning. No reasonable person would believe that the name and logo was chosen to represent the team in a negative way. The reality is that the thermostat on what is considered racist/offensive is being dialed down over time.

No sports team would deliberately name their team after something they did not find admirable. Names like Redskins, Indians, Chiefs, Blackhawks etc. teams were given these names as a form of admiration, not to degrade them in any way.

 

I agree, its a logo, and a mascot. Why are we photoshopping them away for hyper political correctness?

Disagree. There is a culture war being waged. The idea that we have to erase history in order to preserve snowflakes emotions is highly current and political. Subject to many discussions about what is acceptable culturally and historically.

The fact that CNN felt the need to remove the logo artificially speaks volumes about the culture war. You can deny that or minimize it, but in light of all that is happening it is important.

 

Your example is far from reasonable. Try to keep the goalpost on the same planet. All team names and logos are based on positive traits like strength or pride. There is zero possibility that the name or logo portrayed people in a negative light. Then again, the shape of a tortilla chip is offensive to some.

 

Knowledge can't be erased. That's a ridiculous notion, and I don't recall anyone suggesting we "erase" history. Anyone who does is a fool. History can't be erased.

I don't care much about a dumb culture war. The Redskins' name has been an issue for years. Nobody cares. No harm is done by changing names nor photoshopping kids wearing hats.

 

Because CNN is posting propaganda for Biden - likely at the request of the campaign. Which begs more questions.
