No election is certain, just ask Hillary. Seating a new Justice could be. Not really a difficult concept. Pretending your side wouldn't do the same is utterly ridiculous...

 

By design the Constitution is written to prevent the tyranny of the majority. The beauty of it is that it is actually working.

Apparently, a majority of the people are willing to surrender their freedom for an all powerful Fascist federal government that will regulate every aspect of your life. One that has total control over your health care, one that can decide what your neighborhood must look like, and how you can worship, and even what you are allowed to think.

Why liberals claim Trump is a fascist when he is returning power to the states and to the individual as is REQUIRED BY THE 10TH AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION is truly puzzling.

Also, it's the Biden Speech. Not rule. He made the speech with no vacancy up for debate and it was never voted on. So calling it a "rule" is a stretch to begin with.

 

If it was going to happen it would have happened under Obama. He started popular, had a veto proof Senate, and the House. All he managed to get out of all that was Obamacare. If you really think adding two states and packing the courts would go easy, you really don't understand the system. If that doesn't open your eyes, imagine the retribution that would follow when things switched back. That is probably the real reason this sort of lunacy doesn't happen...

Sure, but the Dems have been signaling they were going to do all of that anyway. That's why the election is so important.

 

That depends on which side of the fence that you are yelling from. If you are a conservative Republican, things are looking better now than they did during the Obama years. The economy took a hit this year because of COVID-19, but we did not enter another Great Depression like everyone on the left had feared, due to the strength of the economy that Trump helped to reinforce after Obama left office. The riots are beginning to lose a lot of steam despite the left’s best efforts to stay afloat. Now the SCOTUS has lost a big liberal voice that looks to be very likely replaced by a strong conservative one. Our Republic is not failing. Trump managed to keep the ship afloat despite the leftists’ best efforts to sink it.

Under Obama, during that period, the Reps were just starting down the path they are rolling down now. Boehner was a reasonable guy that Obama could work with. McConnell is a corrupt powerhungry sociopath.

I think the issue was that it isn't a rule, and was not any sort of precedent. And even if it was, the Reps wouldn't even bring it to committee and the floor for a vote. Rather then following the procedure, they abdicated their responsibility.

If the situation were completely reversed, I'd expect them to do what the Reps are doing because that's how reversing a situation works.

Would This Dem party do it? Likely after the election but before the inauguration if they were the party in the minority but weren't the Rep party.
