The U.S. is not a democracy, and the Electoral College grants the less populated states more of an equal say in the general elections as the more populated states. That is only fair.

She received the most votes. In a normal country, she would have won. It isn't "tyranny of the minority" when the person who receives the most votes wins. The candidate receiving the most votes should win.

It means a lot when a bunch of senators from states that contain no people are able to fill the courts with judges not favored by the majority of the country.

    It is a democratic-republic.

It is a mess now. Watch what happens in November. The two most destructive presidents in the last 50 years got into office despite losing the popular vote. How many Americans would be alive today if we avoided GB Bush and his inattention to foreign policy that resulted in 9.11, the two unnecessary wars, and the "Great Recession" he left us, and how many Americans would be alive if our country avoided the horrific Trump administration, and his complete bungling of Covid-19?

Most, if not all, developed countries have single-payer healthcare and NONE of them have repealed it. They pay less and have better outcomes. Maternal mortality is lower. People in those countries don't die because they don't have access to healthcare. People in those countries don't go bankrupt because of medical bills.

    Look it up.

We are a democratic-republic. And, it isn't fair. The electoral college was created because the founders didn't trust the general public's knowledge and intelligence to choose a President so they wanted a mechanism where more knowledgeable people could temper the possible bad decision of the voters. As it stands, with 0% of votes cast (actually some have been cast at this point), we can call NY for Biden, NJ for Biden, Tennessee for Trump, Texas for Trump, etc. Only a few states are actually competitive. Without the electoral college, getting an extra 100 votes in NY or Tennessee would make a difference. Right now, it doesn't.

It's a crap system that isn't going anywhere which has produced two of the most destructive administrations in the last 50 years.

To be fair (a concept alien to leftists, yes I know) Bush was in the Oval Office for not even 8 months before 9/11 happened. The hijackers were already training in the U.S. as early as 1999 for the attacks, which were originally supposed to take place in 1995. So to pin 9/11 on Bush is pretty farfetched. Clinton was your more obvious culprit.

No, it is very fair. I want my state to have a say in who our next President will be, not leave it up to New York or New Jersey to decide for us. Watching how New York managed to fumble their COVID-19 response all by themselves leaves us with no confidence in how they would manage our presidential election for us. So in that regard, thank God for the Electoral College; the last line of defense between America and the racist, incompetent Democrat Party.

Oh, there's plenty of trouble they can generate if Trump goes too far.

Americans have difficulty understanding that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. People in parliamentary democracies where there are few legal checks on a majority government understand those in power need to restrain themselves.

in a normal country you would have more then 2 political party's to and the democrats would end up split between 3-4 groups.

in france the 2 candidates (if neither gets 50% in round 1 with the highest % go to round 2 where you can only vote for them, whoever gets 50% then wins.
so 48% isnt enough there either.

in belgium the people in the northern half can't even vote for south and vice versa
so everybody has its own system, yours worked fine for 200years to give everybody acros the country a vote not just the big city's

Just a few years ago conservatives were saying that judges should be neutral. Now that they have the ability they are demanding it be a conservative.

Btw, it isn’t my party — it is my country. The people voted against trump in 2016 and against republicans in 2018.
So again, you do not care for the nation, you care for your own party.

Let’s see how you feel when Democrats take control and start ramming through judges and implementing new policy to suppress conservative wishes because they now see how the right will behave, previously I wouldn’t have supported such actions.

Have you looked at the current level of division? The last time the US was this divided it led to a civil war.

I wouldn’t say it is “fine”.

That isn’t policy, try again. I will admit I am very negative, I hate what is being done to my home by both parties. The corruption, lies, fraud, trolling and partisan policy is severely damaging my views of my home, and it makes me sad. And then to have hundreds of millions cheering it because it hurts the enemy team, that does so even more.

Hope you and yours are safe! The videos coming from that look absolutely terrifying.

You are trying to qualify your partisanship by isolating it to one specific type of situation, which is just lame and you know it.

Thanks. Just tired from all the loading and unloading stuff and moving things around. This is the second time we have evacuated in the last two weeks. It's getting old but we are safe.

False, trumpism isn't political policy. It is an aberration of Conservatism.
I am asking what partisan policy I have advocated for? (Being against trump doesn’t mean I have advocated partisan policy, it means I advocate against it)

Good to hear, hopefully you didn’t lose anything that cannot be replaced. Those fires are decimating everything some people own. It’s sad.

    1) You just don’t stand behind it then
    2) I have dual citizenship, so I am
    3) I didn’t do anything, I was a registered Republican until 2008 and have voted for more Republicans in my life than Democrats — that is probably going to change though. IIRC the filibuster was removed because the Republicans took on the title of “the party of no” — failing to do their jobs.

Denying being extremely partisan while being extremely partisan. You lose me when using terms like "trumplicans". That's not discussion. That's name calling.

You must understand their basic premise. Anything they do in the furtherance of their goal is justified, anything you do is lying and cheating. Remember, these are people that think rioting is either good, or your fault when they do it.

I use words like trumplican to indicate the division between conservative ideology of yore and whatever this current iteration represents — it isn’t a slur. I understand conservatism, I do not understand what is currently going on.

Regardless, you said I sowed “partisan policy” — what partisan policy specifically have I endorsed?
If your statement was I dislike trump and believe his primary base cheers when they would flip out if the other side did a tenth of what he does then I would agree, but we are discussing policy. Specific policy.
