I am surprised that you are not extremely disappointed with the report that he plans to appoint ACB.
    Aren’t you?

I suspect your tune will change if the legislative filibuster goes Bye Bye... I'm putting the odds at 75% right now.

Why is that any different from "The problem is that RBG tried to impose her Liberalism on the rest of us"?

Supreme Court Justices are supposed to interpret the laws according to the Constitution, not use their personal beliefs to make the laws, be they religious or not. Liberals never seem to complain when the bias is in their favor. In fact, they will do anything to achieve that.

Because it is a story from CNN based on anonymous sources so it must be fake.

    Right?

I don't know what her Catholic faith has to do with ACB's nomination. There are around 165 Catholics serving in Congress. Two of them being the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democratic candidate for President, Joe Biden.

I agree that Judge Barrett would surely make a fine Supreme Court Justice... but so would Judge Barbara Lagoa!.

And it's my contention that it would be more likely that Trump and the Republicans in the Senate can get Lagoa confirmed than Barrett. Think about it.... Remember, "identity-politics" is like sewage! It exists whether we like it or not -- the important thing is to channel it correctly.... :lonely:

"How am I doing", you ask? Mostly with my finger!

Oh, I credit Senator McConnell too, but they would never have been willing to change the rules for SCOTUS nominations had Harry not nuked the judicial filibuster first.

The Biden Rule....and they opened the door to the Nuclear Option since they did it for all other Courts

On top of that they made overtly political dating back to the 80s....

Incorrect. I generally believe stories from quality news organisations that are based on anonymous sources. I include CNN, Fox (news, not the opinion people) and others.

It is the trumpsters who only believe these stories if they like the content. When it is convenient to believe them. No intellectual honesty, but I’ve come to expect that from dirty donny’s crowd.

***** STOP THE PRESSES! HOLD THE PHONES! ***** THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING! :eyepopping: .

Great find, NightOwl -- I didn't realize that Judge Amy Barrett had adopted two BLACK children from HAITI...! This is a gigantic, insuperable game-changer!

Up until this moment, I had thought that Judge Lagoa would be a much more 'confirmable' nominee because she is Hispanic (Cuban-American) -- BUT -- because Barrett had adopted two BLACK children -- from HAITI, the political calculus swings significantly in her favor!

Yep, I can see it now. How is any Democrat Senator going to attack a White FEMALE who adopted two BLACK children from HAITI...?!

[IMG]. "Go ahead, Schumer! Take your best shot at this!" :nana:. :roflol:

You played the "Jesus Card" - again, I don't remember that Jesus ever advocated for government enforced charity. Quite the opposite, charity should be a voluntary endeavor. Any individual who feels that others need help should provide that help themselves. Government force isn't required. It can be done without government coercion.

It is often claimed that liberals/progressives outnumber conservatives in the U.S. If so, a rough guess of liberal/progressive individuals in the U.S would be: Total population of 330 million, subtract 80 million children, equals 270 million adults. One half of that number is 135 million adults, so there are over 135 million liberals/progressives in this country. If that 135+ million would voluntarily form a "charity medical co-op," I am certain that this group could provide health care to the 23 million that you referenced.

I am always astounded that the rich hollywood liberal elite, and the multi-millionaire liberal sports stars, and the various liberal millionaire CEOs and leftist billionaire owners of business, and average left-of-center people such as yourself don't step up to the plate and pay for the healthcare of those who apparently are in such dire need. Why do the above people allow the conservatives to stop them from forming voluntary charity healthcare institutions that would take care of that 23 million we mentioned?

True compassion would require one to actually act on their convictions by giving of themselves and their resources to those in need. Complaining and moaning about "the conservatives won't let us help the poor" is absolutely ludicrous and shows a huge lack of character. 135+ million liberals should step up and put their money where their mouth is.

And the cool part would be that those 135 million liberals who would control the charity healthcare service could tell the conservatives to take a flying leap, you don't get to participate in the charity healthcare we created. Liberals should really do this - but they won't. It is all about the power and fundamentally changing America, not about actually helping people.

"We're not going to help those 23 million unless the government forces them damn conservatives to surrender their resources too!" Wow, how compassionate of the liberals...

"Do you believe you have white privilege?"
"Do black lives matter to you?"

:above: There's another liberal who has leaped to the conclusion that the welfare 'subsidy' handout known as Obamacare is somehow "THEIR HEALTHCARE" in the first place! Nonsense!

This Obamacare scam was never anything but more of the same kind of pandering bullshit we've seen coming from the Democrat Party since their great-demigod, Frankie Roosevelt, started the practice almost NINETY YEARS AGO!

Hint: If anybody contracts for, and PAYS FOR his/her own healthcare insurance, then NOBODY in the Federal Government could "take it away" from them!

See the difference? When you buy something with your own damned money, you own it, you control it, and you decide its terms and conditions! But, WELFARE, handed out by the government is something altogether different....

Exactly, and beyond that, it is unconstitutional to impose a religious test for public office.
