We will likely see 250k deaths from COVID over one year. So using your numbers above it is 37% as deadly as heart attacks, 41% as deadly as cancer... If someone told everyone they could cut their risk of cancer and heart attack by even 10% simply by wearing a mask and washing their hands most people would jump at this. Except Republicans of course.

It is interesting that you say COVID is a “small number” when it is currently the third leading cause of death in America. Strange times we live in.

 

It is not 6 percent that die (as of now) from CV19, it is well below 1 percent or just over half of one tenth of one percent.

Factor in we have not had deaths for a full year, and even if you double the rate, it is perhaps going to be 2 tenths of one percent.

I frankly believe the scare is a product from the hard core Democrats own news media. We are being led around the nose by the Democrats media.

 

Are you talking about a per cent of the total population?

Per cent of infected?

Per cent of confirmed infected?

Clearly it is not an insignificant number. Two Hundred Ten Thousand. That's the entire population of a midsize city

You drive drunk and you may or may not kill yourself, or worse, someone's meemaw.

You go around with Covid 19 and don't know it but don't wear a mask or keep your distance from others, you might kill someone's meemaw.

Sure, you might not infect meemaw directly. Maybe you infect her granddaughter who infects her father who infects her meemaw.

Or you don't have the virus, refuse to wear a mask and keep your distance from others, contract Covid 19 and die even though you're young, white and healthy.

Even though MOST people will just be a little sick from this virus and live, there are cases where it is really deadly no matter what your age or race or preexisting health issue might be.

You want to roll the dice, be my guest. Visit an intensive care unit with Covid 19 paitents and take a deep breath...

Otherwise, realize this isn't about you or your small group of friends in your small town...

Know this;

I am an essential worker, I have to work in a room where it is difficult to keep social distance and I have to wear a mask for every hour of my 10 hour day.

It sucks, but if I found out I infected my co-worker who then infected their mother, and she died... I don't want to know how that would go.

There is no need to lie about what others said or to try and take it out of context — it just makes your argument look dishonest.

And if the Democrats win the Presidency and/or take control of the Senate you'll have to eat those words because the GOPs belligerent ignorant arrogance on all things COVID is the primary driving force behind independents like myself either voting for Democratic candidates out of spite or otherwise sitting this election out by not voting for Republican ones. Death is significant. I would think members of the so called pro-life party would have a more compassionate reaction.

I've been warning right-wingers for months now that they could be trading their vision of America away over something imbecilic as anti-masking and COVID denying - well, now its looking like that just might be the outcome. If it happens the pundits are going to blame a whole host of things but take it from me, the real silent majority this election is going to be Independent voter pissed off about how Pres Trump and other GOP elected officials have utterly failed to deal with COVID.

Gotta love it, soon it will be 300,000, 350,000 dead. Then 400,000 dead. Then at some point most everyone will have to take notice that with a half a million dead in one year, none of us know anyone who died from it.

Don't believe everything the media tells you. There are no piles of bodies and the homeless population is just fine here in Austin with used masks and gloves everywhere.

Men go mad in herds, but recover their senses slowly, and only one by one.

 

You are far more dangerous to society than I am from your commentary.

For example, you would be around far more humans than I am. And of those, some could be infected. And you wear a portable mask and the typical human touches their hand or face a few times per hour. That Covid you have on your mask is touched. I doubt you wash your hands perhaps dozens of times per hour. And when taking off that infected mask, are you using gloves to handle it and is it disinfected.

It is a miracle a good high percentage do not get CV 19 to the point it is a death sentence and only under a tenth of a percent end up dying.

 

It’s not that hard to hit your hands with disinfectant after you remove your mask.
