I don't like that term but it is inevitable in a democratic republic like we have that elected representatives of the people are to a degree (not fully) above the law.

Just see what happens to a member of Congress if they are driving to DC for a vote and they cause a car accident.

Can the local law enforcement take them into custody.?

No they cannot. Law enforcement cannot prevent a member of Congress from attending a Congressional vote.

I understand your point. I have some family members who are "above the law" (agree that term is not all that great) and it's very corrupting. I guess I just don't like the idea that some people, even outside politics, feel they are "untouchable". Admittedly, I want a time machine so I can go back and slap one of my teachers for telling us "Crime doesn't pay." ;-0

I don't see that as substantial enough to be of interest. That congressman is still legally on the hook for the accident.

Far more important has been Trump's ability to defy congressional oversight in sweeping moves that he has proven can not be matched by challenges through the courts.

The checks and balances that we were so proud of have proven to be worthless. The requirement for consent of congress in appointments has been proven to be uninforceable. The examination of emoluments has proven to be impossible.

In all these cases, the claim before this presidential term was that the president was fully opposable on these and other issues, and Trump has proven that to be simply false.

We have the AG now operating as the defense attorney for the president - again, something that was never envisioned, as the AG was created as an office serving the people, NOT the president.

We have the president using FEMA, CDC, FDA, and other offices as political weapons.

We have the president taking action against our voting rights.

We have the president making statements concerning his intent to weight the SC toward backing his personal interests.

While not all of these have specific laws directly targeting these, many do. And, they are ALL agaisnt the very clear intent of how our system of government was designed to operate - and, against thow it HAS operated.

It's pretty clear that our founders just didn't dream that we could have a Trump against whom our government would need far greater protection.

    There are other cases, too.

There are 5 lawsuits concerning sexual misconduct or assault (including rape) that he faces.

That’s laughable. Even Fox is backing away from this fraud story. Even they don’t want to be link with it.
    It’s obviously more fraud .

This is true. The copy was made months after he dropped off the laptop. That's what happens when you make a copy. The time stamp for the creation of the file is the time stamp of the day the file was created.

I'm watching Fox news talking about it right now.

PS The Biden campaign has failed to even attempt to deny the authenticity of the emails. And Hunter's lawyer called and emailed the shop owner asking for the hard drive back.

A grand jury has not yet decided whether to indict "individual-1" (i.e. Trump) yet. That is why he is -- to this point -- unindicted. As soon as a grand jury indicts, the prosecutors can move forward with prosecution. Trump (as Individual-1) is named in numerous federal criminal filings.

How is it a conspiracy theory? You can download the legal documents and read them yourself.

Why do you think Trump has already admitted he will leave the country if he loses? Clearly without the protection afforded to a sitting president, he will need to flee the country. If he loses, I suspect he will gather information and classified documents and resign a week before Biden is inaugurated and Pence will pardon him. Still being subject to state prosecution and civil lawsuits, he will take the information and documents and trade them to Putin for asylum in Russia. Perhaps Putin will let Trump build his Trump Tower Moscow if the information is good enough.

It's not fantasy. I know it isn't likely, but knowing what we know about Trump (i.e. that he is transactional, that he has shared classified information with Russia already, that he will be facing numerous civil and criminal actions, and that he wanted to build a hotel in Russia bad enough to lie about it), I would not be surprised to hear that he fled the country. Seriously, it may be unlikely, but it would not be out of character.

Don't you support Trump? Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie or a conspiracy theory. And my scenario is not a conspiracy theory as it doesn't concern something I claim happened, it is just a guess about what Trump does IF he loses the election.

The news ? The Post is a right wing rag and Fox is a right wing shill. We see nothing from the main news agencies to support anything.
