yes, and sadly it's abused, if your DL expires the day before the election, is it accepted, if you try to buy beer, cigarettes or cash a check it is not.. but guess what, the DL is valid for a month after it expires

the problem is, to fight this would take months, by then your vote would be worthless

if you have a DL and it looks like you, should not even matter if expired, the expired part only means if you can drive with it or not, it's still you, it's still an ID

No, I did not prove, nor did you prove any hypocrisy. Typing it all in caps doesn't make it true, either.

Failure to renew something like a Driver's License, or a ID not valid for operation of a vehicle, is the responsibility of the holder. Many people don't bother changing the address on their Driver's License either, or for those who change their name when marrying/divorcing. It is the responsibility of the holder to keep things current.

If something is important to you, do you not make sure that everything is in place to make that something happen? Going on a trip, do you buy tickets to make sure you can fly/train to get there? Buy a gift before the actual event? Buy groceries to cook a meal? Double check the propane for the grill for a BBQ?

the rules for a dl are you have 30 days from the day it expires, so yes, you are still being responsible if you follow those rules

thus the expiration is not the date the DL becomes invalid, as you can still drive with it for another 30 days, so why should it not be considered valid for voting, buying cigarettes, beer, cashing a check?

That, sir, is very perceptive of you to notice!

Also, in some states, like Colorado, where I am, if you simply declare that you have NO political party affiliation, you get to vote in either the Republican OR the Democrat primaries! They mail you ballots for BOTH fields of a party's candidates in a primary.

I ditched the Republican Party in 2017 because of all the slimy RINO's that took over after Reagan left office, and now I am a 'stealth' voter in primaries.

Being 'unaffiliated' also affords you the ability to invisible to data-farmers.

Evidence which you not have supplied, by the way. Why you think that claiming something without evidence or proof makes it true is beyond me.

Would you like to borrow some WD-40 for that stuck caps lock key?

Kneejerk Denialism on your part does NOT make that EVIDENCE disappear!

The extension of expiration dates is something new for the COVID situation. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/e...id-due-to-dmv-backlog-in-pandemic/ar-BB171P66

Some States are allowing the use of expired DLs only if they expired after March 1, 2020. Some will accept expired IDs if the are expired less than 60 days. A quick google would have shown that information to you. https://www.vote.org/voter-id-laws/

It is still 'your' responsibility to keep your IDs current and up todate.

You haven't provided any evidence, so your claiming that it can't disappear is a bit of stretch, dontchathink??

and where I live you can't renew except between 1 month before and 1 month after, and anytime within that is legit and the license is valid during that time

are you no longer you when your DL expires, or are you just not able to drive?

    ours is 5 years too

maybe we need a national id, vs state ones - so it's consistent

most people check their license on their birthday... and if their birthday is around election day, they should still be able to vote with that id

Don't your state also let you carry a state ID along with your driver's license?

    I have both

Funny you should ask. My DL expired because I couldn't get an appointment with DMV for months. When I had Shipt deliver some beer, they couldn't take my license because it had expired.

I'm with you - I didn't personally expire, my birthdate didn't change; just my right to drive.

    I'm government. I help.

I am so glad my license doesn't expire this year or next, bad enough getting in when it's not a pandemic

where I live were not allowed to have alcohol or cigarettes delivered

Oh. It was fun. I finally got an appointment for two weeks after it expired.

I had to stand around outside the DMV, waiting for a chance to get in line 1. Temperature check.
This gets you inside the door so you can wait in line to get checked in
This gets you inline so you can see a person, who, when done, sends you in line to get your picture taken.
Then you get in line to pay the bill.

    Two 1/2 hours.

Me: I know it's expired, but I couldn't get an appointment any sooner. I've been trying for weeks.
Cashier: We know; it's an issue for everyone. Not a problem.
Me: Why am I being charged a late fee?
Cashier: You didn't get here before your license expired.

Government logic. It's like real logic, but without the logic part.

The ability to get almost everything we need delivered has completely eliminated our need for a second car.

The tips, charges & slightly increased prices don't come close to car payment + insurance + gas + upkeep.

No. The part where you said "This is 100% on Trump sticking his head in the sand.".
You know none actually believes this, right?
